MATERIALS: Flutter yarn in red (4 x 50g balls) oddments in white, black, yellow. Size 4.5mm needles. Set
of 4 double-pointed needles, also size 4.5mm. Crochet hook suitable for black yarn. Batting for stuffing.
Measurements: about 50cm tall.
Body work in garter stitch. Eyes, nose and mouth in stocking stitch.

BODY
Front: Cast on 14 stitches, knit 46 rows. Leave these stitches on a spare needle and make second leg to
match.
Row 47: Knit across all stitches (28 sts). Work 33 rows more.
Row 81: Cast on 14 sts and knit to end (42 sts).
Row 82: Cast on 14 sts and knit to end (56 sts). Knit 12 rows.
Row 95: Cast off 14 sts and knit to end (42 sts).
Row 96: Cast off 14 sts and knit to end (28 sts). Cast off.
Back: Knit as for front.

HEAD
Cast on 14 sts (base edge).
Knit 2 rows.
1stinc row: Inc in each st to end (28 sts)
Knit next row.
2ndinc row: [Inc in next st, K1] to end (42 sts)
Knit 3 rows.
3rdinc row: K7, [inc, K2] twice, inc, K 13, [inc, K2] twice, inc, K8 (48 sts).
Knit 3 rows.
4thinc row: K7,[inc, K3] twice, inc, K15, [inc, K3] twice, inc, K8 (54 sts).
Knit 11 rows.
1stdec row: K8, [K2 tog, k3] twice, K2 tog, K15, [K2 tog, K3] twice, K2 tog, K7 (48 sts).
Knit 3 rows.
2nddec row: K8, [K2 tog, K2] twice, K2 tog, K13, [K2 tog, K2] twice, K2 tog, K7 (42 sts).
Knit 3 rows.
3rddec row: [K1, K2 tog] to end (28 sts).
\Knit 1 row.
4thdec row: K2 tog to end. (14 sts).
Knit 1 row.
Break yarn, leaving length. Thread through remaining stitches.

EYEBALLS and NOSE

Make 2 in white, and 1 in yellow.
Cast on 3 sts on the double-pointed needles, one on each needle (1 1 1) and place marked if desired.

Inc 1 in all (2 2 2).
Knit 1 round.
Inc 1 in all (4 4 4).
Knit 2 rounds.
Inc 1 in all (8 8 8).
Knit 2 rounds.
K1, inc 1; repeat around (12 12 12).
Knit 4 rounds.
K1, K2 tog; repeat around (8 8 8).
Knit 2 rounds
K2 tog: repeat around (4 4 4).
Knit 1 round.
K2 tog, repeat around (2 2 2).
Break yarn and pull through remaining 6 sts.

PUPILS
Make 2.
Make 4 chain. Join to form a ring. Chain 2. Do 12 treble into ring. Join last treble to chain to complete
ring. Make 2 chain. Treble into each gap between trebles. Close circle. Tie off. Sew onto eyeballs.

MOUTH
Cast on 12 sts. (Stocking stitch)
Knit 1 row.
Cast on 2 sts. Purl to end. (14 sts)
Cast on 2 sts. Knit to end. (16 sts)
Purl 1 row.
Knitting stocking stitch, inc 1 st at each end of next 4 knit rows. End on a purl row. (24 sts)
Now dec 1 st at each end of next 4 knit rows, ending on a purl row. (16 sts)
Cast off 2 sts, knit to end. (14 sts)
Cast off 2 sts, purl to end. (12 sts)
Cast off.
Fold in half, sew edges together.

ASSEMBLY: Sew up seams of body, stuff through neck opening. Do not close. Sew head piece together.
Stuff. Draw neck edge to a smaller opening with length of yarn already threaded through stitches. Attach
head to body, stuffing more if required to strengthen neck. Stuff eyeballs and nose. Position on head.
Attach. Position mouth in a smile on face. Attach.
