Chapter 6: Influence Lines for Statically Determinate Structures In this chapter it discuss about the influence lines, influence lines for beam, qualitative influence lines, influence lines for floor girders, influence lines for trusses, maximum influence at a point due to a series of concentrated loads, absolute maximum shear and moment. Influence lines have important application for the design of structures that resist large live loads. In this chapter we will discuss how to draw the influence line for a statically determinate structure. If a structure is subjected to a live or moving load, however, the variation of the shear and bending moment in the member is best described using the influence line.In beams form the main loadcarrying elements of a floor system or bridge deck, it is important to be able to construct the influence lines for the reactions, shear, or moment at any specified point in a beam. In loadings, once the influence line for a function (reaction, shear, or moment) has been constructed, it will then be possible to position the live loads on the beam which will produce the maximum value of the function. In concentrated force, Since the numerical values of a function for aninfluence line are determined using a dimensionless unit load, then for any concentrated force Facting on the beam at any position x, the valueof the function can be found by multiplying the ordinate of the influenceline at the position x by the magnitude of F. In this chapter, it is discussed well and it gives enough examples and it shows step by step on how to solve the problem and they explain on how to get the required in the problem. There is also a question in order for the student to answer and learn more and understand well about this topic and it is a challenge for the student in order to know how to solve. After reading this chapterI can say that this is an important topic to be tackled and discuss in the class so that we know how to solve and understand more the concept of this topic in our field because we can used it in the future or i8n the other topic of this book. Influence lines for floor girders and trusses can be established by placing the unit load at each panel point or joint, and calculating the value of the required reaction, shear, or moment like the previews topic that we tackled and we solve. It is not new for us in solving the problems because the process in solving the problem is already discuss in the previews chapter of this book.
