JOB DESCRIPTION OPERATIONS MANAGER SEAFREIGHT & PROJECTS DEPARTMENT LOCATION: Moerdijk (NL) REPORTS TO: Ronald Verkaik

k SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Shipping Operators PURPOSE: To develop shipping related activities ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary duties and responsibilities are outlined below and relate to the following projects and shipping related activities: Special Projects Commercial Activity Maintain and develop commercial activity with nominated clients, said nominated clients to be agreed between the ALS Operations Manager and the Branch Manager Assist other Commercial colleagues with any inquiries received relating to Seafreight, Break Bulk and Project inquiries. Discuss any new Special Project inquiries, that meet the Special Projects criteria, received directly to Moerdijk office - Operations Manager and the Branch Manage and agree on who will be responsible for responding to and following up said inquiries, Determine project needs, identify suitable vessel and obtain prices/quotations Hire or charter (whole or part) river and seagoing ships and barges or aircraft Assist ALS colleagues in relation to operational activities pertaining to Seafreight, Special Projects, offering guidance, advice and expertise ensuring that operators fulfil all requirements expected and required of the Project being worked on. Undertake operational activities relating to shipping activities directly relating to Special Projects and / or other customer bookings / orders. Maintain and develop relationships with agreed ship-owners Monitor and evaluate potential ship-owners that could be of benefit to ALS Group, working in liaison with the Operations Manager. Assist colleagues with the sourcing of Charter, Part Charter and Break Bulk prices for inquiries. Senior Manager Projects and Shipping will check and approve any Charter / Part Charter agreements and be responsible for approving insurance arrangements on said Charter / Part Charter agreements Monitor, check and verify other colleagues prices and costs on any charters, part-charters and break-bulk inquiries that they deal with. Shipping Related Activities

Develop Relationship and Opportunities with Conventional Shipping Lines To develop existing relationships with shipping lines and develop and build new relationships with other lines not currently working with ALS Obtain competitive shipping rates direct with shipping lines and reduce ALS reliance on Ship Agents and General Forwarders Work with other ALS Offices, and colleagues within ALS, to develop and increase the level of business placed with shipping lines Diversify the business activities of ALS with Shipping Lines; i.e. Bulk Shipments, Bulk Cargo To provide ALS Senior Management with opportunities pertaining to shipping related activities having conducted a feasibility study and provided financial proposals relating to said activities such that ALS can develop other shipping related activities such as Ships Agency, Liner Agency, Port Agency Port Agency requires the administration of functions required by the vessel (typically using Inst. Chartered Shipbrokers tariffs) Carry out credit control in all aspects of special projects and shipping activities undertaken Raise sales invoices and process purchase invoices relating to activities undertaken as Senior Manager of the Department and to monitor those activities of staff reporting to the Branch Manager. Prepare jointly with Operations Manager forecast for inclusion into ALS budget

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop the skill set within and the ALS Group through offering advice, guidance and training in relation to matters pertaining to Special Projects and Shipping related activities.

COMPETENCIES NEEDED: Excellent operational, management, and knowledge in all matters relating to vessel Chartering and Break Bulk shipping with an in depth knowledge of port operations and ships agency. Excellent project management capability, involving negotiating skills, the management of diverse work groups and financial acumen Knowledge of Customs formalities Willingness to be a team player, showing loyalty and commitment to members of the shipping department and other ALS colleagues and offices, with the desire to develop and train other colleagues in all aspects of shipping and chartering. Good Communicator with excellent IT skills and ability. Able to work to deadlines and with high attention to detail. Languages preferred: English and French Approved by:
