5 -3 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

5.1) Preventive maintenance

The maintenance operations which follow are listed by their recommended frequency. It is advised that this maintenance schedule be adhered to from the delivery of your equipment onwards. The frequency of maintenance should be increased in harsher environments.

After each of these operations has been performed once or twice, the maintenance frequency required for your equipment will become apparent to your maintenance personnel.

Turn the power off before any servicing or maintenance operation. Do not oil any elements of the sytlus or the marking head. Never use a tool to tighten the stylus. Air pressure should be 4 bars maximum. The air should be clean and dry.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

DCD01/3044-(MTEC4324/0312A0-chapter05US.fm)

5.1.1. Every two weeks

Clean the guide rails inside the marking head using a dry cloth. (USE NO SOLVENT, OIL OR GREASE).

Guide rails

Transmission screws

Fig. 3 - CN312Dm/Sm - Bottom view

Verify the state of the stylus and proceed to clean it (see electromagnetic stylus manual)

5.1.2. Every month

If necessary, send us the stylus point back for sharpening, or replace it.

The greater the radius of the point, the higher the risk that the small characters will be illegible, especially on soft materials.

technifor

DCD01/3044-(MTEC4324/0312A0-chapter05US.fm)

5 -5 PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE AND CORRECTIVE ACTIONS

5.1.3. Every year

Schedule a revsion of the marking head on our premises. This will entail: completely dismantling the machine, cleaning all the mechanical parts, changing the rails and guide pads, changing the transmission screws and nuts, checking the condition of the motors and the X and Y belts, reassembling and adjusting the mechanical parts, bench testing the head , marking tests.

This list has been drawn up for a marking frequency of: 520 000 cycles per year (7 800 000characters per year), 15 characters, 3 mm high per cycle, 8 hours of continuous work on 50daN/mm steel.

During the revision interval of your marking head it is possible to rent identical equipment so as not to interrupt your production.

5.2) Incidents and corrective actions

5.2.1. Recommendations

THE NON-RESPECT OF THE RECOMMENDATIONS LISTED BELOW WILL CANCEL THE GUARANTEE

Never oil the X-Y guide rails. Make sure that they are clean. Regularly clean both the stylus and the point. The stylus point should be correctly sharpened. GENERAL MAINTENANCE

6.1) General maintenance

Maintenance consists basically in checking the quality of the marking. After very intensive use of the equipment the characters could become deformed. This means that the carriage guides or the stylus point tolerances are no longer correct. It is recommended to contact your distributor to set up a revision date that will minimize the down-time of your equipment.

6.2) Changing the stylus

Since the body of the stylus is made up of light alloys, it should be carefully examined periodically. It is especially important that the threads of the stylus be examined for impurities. Impurities on the stylus threads may cause your unit to jam, producing irreparable damage. Tighten the stylus manually, using your index finger and thumb. Do not use any tools to tighten the stylus.

6.3) Changing the fuses
