ANNEX Ib
TREASURER’S REPORT1
I would like to give you a report about the finances of the ECLDF and also about my
activity as a member of the ECLDF. (…)
Copies will be available and at the end of my talk you will have an opportunity
to put forward questions.
HISTORY
The first thing I did was to look for a helping hand at home in Hungary. I found
the appropriate trustworthy person in our fraternity. Mrs. Gitta Zillich Csutorane is an
expert in finances. She helped me a lot and she audited the figures three times: at
the end of the year 2006 and 2007 and now, before the Assembly started. The
documents are available here.
When I took over this job we did not have access to the bank account that had
been used by the treasurer of the previous ECLDF. At that time, only that person had
access to the bank account since it was a private bank account in Italy.
1
For the sake of clarity, Nikolett Murányi’s financial report was split from her activity report (see Annex Ic).
Giovanna Cella Gava (the Treasurer of the previous ECLDF) finally closed the
old bank account at the Italian bank (she had 2 bank accounts) in 2005 and
transferred our money to this new account at Pax Bank in January 2006. Her work
done between 2002-2004 was audited in March 2005 by Gitta and found to be in
order. The Audit is available here.
PRESENT
Before I started this work, procedures had not been set up. Gitta and I have
made the following progress:
• A cash-book is set up where all the incomes and expenditures are numbered
and tracked both for cash and bank transfers.
• Figures are audited yearly.
• Each slip, invoice, bill and bank statement is registered.
• All the payments and the bank correspondence are documented and done
based on the common decisions written in the ECLDF meeting minutes.
• Several types of ECLDF financial forms are made and we use them in order to
be able to carry out clear, transparent work. These forms are helpful to
recognize who pays what.
• The forms are:
− personal expense forms – used by ECLDF members when their
expenses related to their ECLDF activities are reimbursed;
− donation forms;
− Receipt forms.
In 2007 two applications were prepared, asking for financial support for
making this Assembly happen. One of them was sent to the Council of European
Bishops’ Conferences, but they could not support us. The other application was
accepted by Renovabis – a German foundation – and they gave us EUR 4,000
(3,200 has been paid and 800 will be paid after closing this Assembly.) Another EUR
1,000 was given by an anonymous sponsor.
