The Beautiful Inland Route The Inland Rou,te is surely a voyage of enchantment, a mid mmmer
day'sdream- where summer's sunshme s1fts through 1nterlacmg
boughs, and music-throated birds entrance the listening ear, '' in the quie t home of t he water lily and the happy hunt-
ing ground of the nodle red man . It is not only Northern Michi gan ' s greatest attraction, but i t is the most picturesque
and the only boat trip of its kind to be found on the American continent. Go where you will, wander where you may,
you will find nothing that surpasses or even compares with the sceni c grandeur of this chain of beaut iful lakes and
rivers. No one should miss a day on the beaut iful Inland Route, which includes numerous sil ver Jakes and windi ng
rivers alive with gamy fish. The passi ng of numerous little crafts under sail and steam, the swiftly moving pano-
rama of limpid water s and verdant shores, form a most effect ive combination of sceni c grandeur.

SOUVENIR GUIDE
Northern Michigan
Resorts
1905
Copies may be obtained by sending 25 cents to Michigan Guide Book Company,
Grand Rapids, Michigan.
HE primary purpose of thi s publication is to direct and so make more
expeditious, and likewise enjoyable, the sojourn of the summer t raveler.
While the average touri st who spends a vacation among the resorts of
today is wearied by the whirlwind of things to do, the fact remains
. bluntly apparent to the most skeptical that with proper directions one
may spend a life-time among the beauti es of the North and feel refreshed ever y
part of the period. Clearly, concisely and accurately this book will so instruct that
one may use one's time t o the best advantage without cons tant inquiries of fellow
travel ers . The North offers unbounded res ources for amusement, for the gayest
of life and the quiet est of rests as well. There is no occasion for the one desiring
t he one condition to be thrown int o the ot her- th e Guide Book is the ounce of
preventi on. Its brief directions will not only save the feet of the tourist; they will
do his head work for him.
For convenient r eference T he Souvenir Guide classi fies Michigan Summer
resorts geographicall y under three heads-Little Traverse Bay, Mackinac and
Grand Traverse Bay Regions. Of the first named, Petoskey is the center in size
and importance and number of touri st s that it entertains. Mackinac Island
occupi es this pos ition with refer ence to the Mackinac region, while Traverse City
is the hub of the Grand Traverse section.
