Things to do in Munnar

1. Tata Tea Museum

The TataTeaMuseum is, unfortunately, about as close as youll get to a working tea factory around Munnar. Its a slightly sanitised version of the real thing, but it still shows the basic process. A collection of old bits and pieces from the colonial era, including photographs and a 1905 tea-roller, are also kept here. The short walk to here from town is lovely, passing some of the most accessible tea plantations from Munnar town.

Saravana Bhavan Munnar

Cuisines: Indian Munnar market, Munnar, India

The hotel is at its best in morning food stuff, especially in masala dosa and butter roast...We used to go there weekly as its very near to church. But its too rushy and have to wait for long...Its near to the bus station and is a vegetarian hotel. Its the only show in munnar own which provides us with the actual filter coffee..The shop will be always filled by our engg college students Don't miss this restaurant in the market area, where you get real authentic south indian food. During peak hours you may have to wait for long, after getting the token to savour the dishes. But it's worth the wait. Better go in the morning or afternoon when they have all dishes ready. Evening it shuts down.

If you want gr8 vegetarian South Indian food in Munnar at cheap price, this is the place to be. Don't have high expectations from the atmosphere, cleanliness etc. because the place is a bit shoddy & the restaurant is not like a fine-dining place. There are always too many people inside & its a smallish place. But, if you can count these negatives out, you are in for a pleasant surprise with the food quality. Its more like a fast food thing. They serve in traditional South Indian style on banana leaves. Once you start eating, you forget everything else. The GHEE DOSA is out of the world. I had 2 of that. To top it, our service staff was so enjoyable & cheerful & fast that our eperience was made memorable. He was actually funny as he kept running around the tables & was jovial. But, trust me - FOOD IS GREAT. For 8 of us who had heavy meal, we only paid INR 550 which is quiet economical. Hotel Ambadi
Very nice experience. The hotel external and interior view is excellent. My family enjoyed two days a lot in this hotel. However the food is very costly. The hotel is mainly made of wood which makes the hotel very different. The outside veiw look likes bricks walls. Overall very comfortable experience. When we reached there, we were not expecting much of the hotel, but it surprisingly turned out to be quite good. The all wood room was a stunner, and deck chairs on the balcony were a nice addition for sitting there in the evening. Both me and my wife loved the room we were given. The hotel looks great from outside as well. There are a lot on monkeys in and around the property, but for most part they kept to themselves and do not bother the guests. The restaurant is average but there are quite a number of good options nearby. It was the best part of my trip to Kerala,It's a must visit. The food is just awesome.Good rooms and Excellent service. Surroundings are very good People are very friendly.Only one advise please dont eat chicken sizzler. Good hoel with ample space for relaxing.. it has a very different look and well done old fashioned makeup... looks like some building in 70's Personal cottages are good.. the restro had good non-veg food but little for the vegges... We stayed for one night at this hotel - and enjoyed a good sleep because of lower temperatures at this elevation. Its a good value for money - it was clean, it was OK. Just don't expect the staff to treat you in a friendly manner, you are just another number... Make sure to get up early if you want to go to the Periyar national park - chances to see animals are much higher on the first boats (be prepared to be at the gate at 5.30 and to run for tickets) That said there's a decent and popular restaurant here which has a beer license. The staff are helpful enough and organised a tour of a tea factory and spice plantation really quickly.

FORT COCHIN

Arca Nova Restaurant ( Fort House Hotel)

Cuisines: Indian Fort House, Fort Cochin, | 2/6a Calvathy Road, Kochi (Cochin), India

By far the best restaurant we visited in Kerala. My wife and I had dinner there. Atmosphere was great (they have a great balcony on the water but we sat inside). Service was very good. Starters (soup, salad) and main dishes (fish) were excellent. Deserts were not as special. Quite expensive for India (about 1500 INR total) but very good value in western terms. Had a fantastic meal here looking out over the harbour - even spotted dolphins. Aubergine inpeanut sauce was outstanding, the fried fish was huge and fresh, and the pepper squid was fiery! Kind and pleaant service in lovely surroundings. A bit out of the town but definitely worth the rickshaw fare.

Fort House Restaurant

Cuisines: Seafood Calvathi Road, Kochi (Cochin) 682001, India 0091 9961772274

A serene hideaway far from the bustle of the maddening crowd, Fort House is the place to relax and unwind....Lulled by the Arabian Sea , the experience is exquisite, whether it is enjoying the authentic Kerala Latin cuisine or watching the sunset ... Would totally recommend the Ayurvedic/Spa facility .. which helped us forgo recommended spine surgery and claim back a healthy, normal lifestyle.... This family run restaurant has a special place in our hearts especially when the team whipped up lunch for forty people in an hour's notice..Thank you Fort House.... Thanks to our good friends who recommended the Fort House Restaurant. We visited this place in the month of July on my husbands birthday with family and friends. Each one of us enjoyed every moment we spent there. The service was good and the food was the best we ever had in a Cochin restaurant. The evening was made memorable with a surprise birthday cake and candles. The restaurant has a beautiful spirit. The fish in green mango

and the spice figs are worth trying. Kerala chicken roast was yummy too. Thanks to the Fort House team for the great evening Eating out here is not inexpensive but not overpriced. Very good tasty sea food and beautiful view. The candlelight dinner at Fort House Restaurant on the pier is fabulous and the view is amazing. The location is excellent and offers a great view to the harbour mouth. You will love it. The food at the Fort House restaurant is special. Choice seems few, but you still can choose from traditional Kerala dishes, spagetti or simple grilled fish. Visited this place three times during our stay in Fort Kochi and the food always tasted fresh and delicious. The restaurant has an amazing ambiance. The food and the ambiance is just too good, you have to be there to know what I am talking about. Loved this restaurant and its wonderful setting....clean place, polite and helpful staff and very good food. That's exactly what you are looking for... right? I owe this to Fort House. Me and my wife landed in Cochin totally ill, with a bad stomach. We checked into Fort House after our long journey from Karnataka. Right at the reception 'Nisha, the angel in saree' suggested some ginger tea for the bad stomach, which was so good that we could stop running to the toilet and sleep peacefully for 8 hours! We ate at their beautiful restaurant the next day and was delighted with the delicious food they had. Simply excellent! They have the restaurant with the best view in town. So it is a must visit place in Fort Cochin. Loved their fish in tomato sauce and their fig with ice cream desert. That was the best desert we had in India! We really loved their restaurant! Thank you Nisha! A quiet, happy place enveloped in subdued hues and sounds of nature. The entrance leads to a dramatic open space and lands you amidst placid waters, horizon, boats, and a sense of magic in the air. The sorcery is at its best when the food arrives. Apart from the usual suspects, you will find the best shrimps, prawns, and lobsters in grilled, steamed, or fried fashion. A typical Kerala meal with fish curry fills your stomach more with nostalgia while you cant help licking up your fingers. Anything you eat is tasty here, and a polite, professional service creates a friendly atmosphere. The attitude of Fort House is reflected in their great food, relaxing atmosphere, and excellent service. Don't miss it if you are in Kochi. We. Found this great eat out in cochin during our stay. Excellent food, finger licking good. Good portions as well. Would highly recomend.
