PLATO

I learned that plato was born on circa 428 B.C. I also learned that Plato was a student of Socrates and a teacher of Aristotle. His writings explored justice, beauty and equality, and also contained discussions in aesthetics, political philosophy, theology, cosmology, epistemology and the philosophy of language. Plato, of course, was an anti-democratthe democrats had killed his beloved Socrates. So a good part of The Republic is devoted to designing an ideal government, an alternative to the evils of democracy. I, of course, had been raised on the glories of democracy and the American way, and I realized I didnt know enough to resolve the conflict in my own mind. I simply didnt have enough data to judge, and I wasnt going to get it by reading theoretical discussions. So even though I read a bit more philosophy, I became much more interested in history and biography a way of testing ideas against the real world.

ARISTOTLE
Love is composed of a single soul inhabiting two bodies.

Cabana, Juan Gabriel __________ I learned that Aristotle was a Greek philosopher who made important contributions by systemizing deductive logic and wrote on physical subjects. His philosophy had a long-lasting influence on the development of all Western philosophical theories. I learned that he was the one works Physics The reporter is good in discussing his topic and I was satisfied.

EPICUREANISM Cajayon, Jan Kristofferson __________ I learned that Epicurus is the one who establish EPICUREANISM. And he founded his school, The Garden, in Athens For him; Pleasure is the absence of pain or the avoidance of pain. For him reason is the ability to balance one thing with another in order to calculate future happiness. The reporter is good and it was helpful. SKEPTICISM Guanizo, Alvin __________ Sextus Empiricus define Skepticism. I learned That Greek word skeptikoi means investigator or examiner. Skepticism is a position of denial. Refuse to rule on the existence of objects. I also learned that Skepticism is the ability to face to face things that appear as well as those thoughts in any manner whatsoever, in which capacity, because of equal strength there is in objects and opposing arguments we arrive first at the suspension of assent, and after that the peace

St. AUGUSTINE
Faith is to believe what you do not see; the reward of this faith is to see what you believe.

Divina, Rhyan __________ Santos Jr., Regalado __________ Sarion, Sarah Jane __________ The three reporters are good in discussing their topic and I was satisfied. They discuss it well and we learned that St. Augustine has Confessions. This is a spiritual autobiography, covering the first 35 years of St. Augustines life. In here, we can see how his spiritual development and how he accepted Christianity. He admit that when he was young he preferred hedonism to studying, and pursuit of sexual pleasure. And around 16 years of age, he gave up studying, chased woman and became a thief. In his spiritual journey, he seeks his happiness and accepts. I learned that in book 8, he was convert to Christianity.

ST. THOMAS AQUINAS

The things that we love tell us what we are. Carrasco, Jireh __________ The reporter, Jireh, explained it well and we understand that the life of St. Aquinas is not that easy. He was an indefatigable student, teacher, and writer. He was born at Roccasecca, Italy, as the youngest son of Count Landolfo of Aquino and Countess Teodora of Teano. At age five, he began his studies at the

Benedictine monastery in Monte Cassino. From there, he went on to study at the University of Naples and, over the objections of his family, became a Dominican friar in 1244. So his family kidnapped him. I learned that he was forced to quit in teaching. And while en route to a church council in Lyon, he fell gravely ill and died not far from the town of his birth early in 1274.

ST. ANSELM
For

I do not seek to understand in order to believe, but I believe in order to understand. For I believe this: unless I believe, I will not understand.

Marino, Cyrus Fearl __________ The reporter discuss the topic well and understood. I learned that Anselm is perhaps most famous for developing the ontological argument for the existence of God. For him, God is that than which nothing greater can be conceived, It is greater to exist than to not therefore, God exists. Anselm felt that the claim that God could exist in but not in reality was absurd. To demonstrate this, he walks through an argument with "the fool" who does not believe in God. The fool's argument is that God exists in intellect alone, and not in reality. If the fool also agrees that God is that than which nothing greater can be conceived.
