Olde Vechte Foundation

Welcome!
We are happy to let you know that you have been selected to be an EVSer for the project Sustainable Community in Ommen, the Netherlands.

Here is an overview of how your Group EVS is built up:

What
Arrival and start of your EVS Introduction Days and On-Arrival training Volunteering all together Volunteering in the workplaces Mid-term evaluation for the Youth passes, learning goals will be evaluated and new goals will be set Meeting with mentors and finalising Youth Pass: sharing intensions for coming period Departure

When
24th of June 24th 27th of June 28th of June The whole period Beginning of August Middle of August 22nd of August

What we expect from you

In our experience it does not create the best atmosphere if somebody arrives or departs earlier or later than the rest of the group. We therefore expect all participants to arrive on the 24th of June and that you depart on the 22nd of August from the Olde Vechte. By sticking to these dates you will also get the most out of your EVS experience. Normal working days are Monday Friday. This depends a bit on your work place, but the total amount of working hours is 36 hours and if you work in evenings/weekends you can therefore compensate with taking other days off. We expect you to meet up all working days at the place you are assigned to volunteer. Your free days you spend as you want and you are of course also allowed to leave Ommen on these days.

Insurance
All EVSers are covered by a medical insurance plan called AXA to protect you in your volunteering period. It covers medical, dental, disability and liability problems. It is free of charge and you will sign it with your sending organisation. For more information about AXA: www.msh-intl.com/global.

What to do before you leave

Become a member of our Facebook group Sustainable Community EVS https://www.facebook.com/groups/sustainablecommunitygevs/. Here you can already start communicating with us and the rest of the group. Meet with your sending organisation so they can prepare you for your EVS and help you with how you book your travel. Book your travel: When you know the budget for your travel, you probably have to book your travel yourself (some do it together with the sending organisation). When you are here you will get the money back for your arrival travel and when you are home you will get the money for your return travel. Let us know your arrival and departure time You will sign an Activity Agreement and your insurance together with your sending organisation. It is similar to a work contract.

What to bring with you

We advise you to bring (dependent on your luggage allowance) the things on this list so you do not need to buy a lot of things only to use for two months and/or because it is probably cheaper to buy it in your own country than in the Netherlands.
