SYNCHRO 11 – CAD workstations prerequisites

ƒ In order to connect to VPMWeb Synchro 11 (beginning on the 2008/05/19)

19/05/2008), partners must update their CAD workstations (PC & Unix). The update
process has already been sent to every partner to anticipate this upgrade.

ƒ If necessary, ask Sylvain CABAJ (Sylvain.Cabaj@renault.com) to send you this

document.

ƒ The “VPMWeb access check list” has been updated with the new prerequisites.
This check list is available for download in the public downloads on the CAE
Extended Enterprise (VPM Web access sheet for synchro 11) :

VPMWeb – NEWS

ƒ PC/Unix : Languages
ƒ Only « French » and « English » languages are still available.

ƒ PC/Unix : New PSN

ƒ The “new PSN” is a new interface for VPMWeb assemblies (trees). This interface is
very similar with the VPM PSN.
ƒ To activate this interface, launch « Open part » from the right-click menu on a part
from the WebTree of the query panel.

ƒ PC/Unix : Tree comparison functions

ƒ « Compare with base » & « Compare with another PSN »
ƒ These functions are identical from the VPM ones and can be launched from the
WebTree or from the PSN.
ƒ Process guide available on demand.

VPMWeb - CORRECTIONS

ƒ Unix : « Save PSN »

ƒ Default directory of the function « Save PSN » is now the Unix home directory.

ƒ Unix : Key « Copy »

ƒ The key « Copy » of the keyboard can be used. It will not crash VPMWeb anymore.

ƒ PC/Unix : « Info link »

ƒ The behavior of the function “Info link” applied on a multi-selection is correct..

ƒ PC/Unix : « Update position from STEP file »

ƒ The result page does not anymore systematically display an error. The result
message is now in accordance with the real result of the update.

ƒ PC/Unix : Root parts display

ƒ The color of root parts (WebTree & PSN) does not use the standard colors codes of
VPMWeb. This part excepted, the assembly uses the standard VPMWeb colors
codes (icons / colors).

ƒ Unix : Object Creation

ƒ Anomaly : When choosing the object to create in the “Create object window”, the
environment menu is frozen so the environment can not be chosen (if several
environments are preloaded).
ƒ Solution : To unfroze it, select another object type (ex : CATV5) then return on the
first one.

ƒ PC : Object creation & duplication

ƒ Anomaly : The “Help values” window is inactive when creating or duplicating an
object. The “Help values” window can be displayed by selecting the magnifier from
the creation window.
ƒ Solution : Right-click on the Internet Explorer message then “Authorize content”

ƒ Unix : Object creation & duplication

ƒ Anomaly : Links of the « Help values » window are not
usable. From the creation window, click on the magnifier
to display the help values window. When selecting
AUTOMATIC for the field Reference, the links
« AUTOMATIC » and « close ».
ƒ Solution : Close the « Help Values » window using the top
right corner then click again on the magnifier. Links are
now usable.

ƒ PC/Unix : Viewing a quality control report

ƒ Anomaly : Selecting a non-respected rule (red) in the DQR (Digital Quality Report)
after a “View DQR” has no effect on OS Unix and display a white page on PC.
ƒ Solution : None. These links are only available at the end of the function “Add DQR”.

ƒ PC/Unix : 2D Local Viewer

ƒ Anomaly : Viewing a 2D plan is difficult because of the lines wideness.
ƒ Solution : Open the settings and go to the “2D Local Viewer” settings then
choose ”Awt” in the field “Graphics library”. Open again the 2D plan.

ƒ Warning : VPMWeb Multi-sessions are not blocked.

ƒ Because of an incident, we can not anymore block simultaneous connections of
several users with the same PIN. Connecting VPMWeb this way is not supported
by Renault, it may introduce some instabilities of VPMWeb.

ƒ PC/Unix : Objects graphical customization

ƒ Color of environment RMU Parts is now grey (instead of white)
ƒ Color of environment VEH Parts is now blue-green (instead of turquoise blue).
ƒ EPURE Parts of environment VEH have the same display as display in other
environment. They are coloed and have an icon.

ƒ PC/Unix : VPMWeb interface

ƒ A third window can be displayed (workbook + 2 windows).
ƒ To display this window, open the VPMWeb settings panel and choose the “number
of views” (1/2) and the layout (vertical for this example).
