Our role, as one of the worlds leaders in overhead line transmission design, construction and maintenance, is to help our clients make the right decisions and deliver their investment plans to the highest standard. We provide access to the specialist skills and resources that clients need on a global basis. This includes an extensive captured supply chain of specialist manufacturers geared to the needs of local markets, and includes in-house fabrication of transmission line towers. We are one of only a few specialist providers with the ability to operate across the spectrum from 132kV to 765kV, providing a portfolio of services that includes a comprehensive design service to assess feasibility and scope the detailed requirements of a contract in advance of construction. In addition, we offer a proven refurbishment capability to extend the life of existing network infrastructure. Scoping Increasingly we are asked by clients to help them scope future requirements looking at the whole lifecycle of a potential project. By fully understanding their current issues and challenges and being aware of new opportunities and desired outcomes, we are able to explore possible scenarios, assess potential risks and consider future proofing assets to cater for expansion. Scoping is either undertaken as part of an ongoing informal dialogue or as a defined process. Feasibility & Planning We carry out feasibility studies in response to the basic specification presented, looking at key drivers such as safety, environmental impact, affordability and sustainability to determine the basic engineering requirements of the proposed works. We ensure the buildability of the design and delivery of the programme through the early input of our operational expertise. Design Throughout the design process we consider the whole life safety and environmental impact of any solution during construction, maintenance, refurbishment and deconstruction. To deliver a solution that meets requirements we take the high level feasibility design platform, detailed engineering specifications and make the best use of standard and non- standard design elements. We also examine the opportunities for off-site assembly to reduce time taken on site and reduce risk further. Engineering & Procurement With our extensive knowledge of the marketplace, we can procure, manage and inspect specialist equipment, services and plant to ensure the works are completed efficiently and effectively. Prefabrication and assembly options reduce risk and programme duration. We work collaboratively with the extended supply chain to ensure that technical, process and cultural innovation delivers tangible results across the whole contract.

Pre-Construction The pre-construction phase involves proactive management of the clients requirements, focusing on upfront communication and building relationships. Project constraints are addressed early including: local wildlife, archaeology, weather and altitude planning, access, wayleaves and local sporting rights. Construction During construction our focus is on operating safely, minimising disruption to local communities, maximising productivity and maintaining the programme schedule. We have full in-house capabilities for all core activities, benefitting from our training schools in Derby, Newton and the Philippines. Ongoing communication with local landowners, clear ownership of issues and proactive site appraisals ensure standards are met and expectations are realised. An integrated testing and commissioning programme is conducted before final handover to the client. Refurbishment & Upgrade Towers, conductors, insulators and fittings will need to be periodically refurbished during the life of the network. Towers and foundations can be upgraded to cater for changes in legislation and codes of practice. Any outages are scheduled to minimise disruption using live line parallel working techniques. Maintenance & Repair We provide maintenance services to maximise the life of assets within the clients investment strategy. We avoid the disruption and cost of unplanned work through programmes of regular inspection and pro-active maintenance. In addition, we provide a comprehensive out of hours response and emergency cover capability to address damage resulting from storms, fire and vehicle collisions.
