Systems Engineering
Systems engineering is an interdisciplinary focus mode to study and understand the reality, in order to implement or optimize complex systems. It can be seen as the technological application of the theory of systems engineering efforts, taking in all this work the system paradigm. Systems engineering integrates other disciplines and specialty groups into a team effort forming a focused development process. Systems engineering is therefore the application of mathematical and physical sciences to develop systems that use economically the materials and forces of nature for the benefit of humanity. One of the main differences in systems engineering over other traditional engineering disciplines, is that systems engineering builds no tangible products. While civil engineers could design buildings or bridges, electronic engineers could design circuits, systems engineers deal with abstract systems using methodologies of systems science, and trust also in other disciplines to design and deliver the tangible products which are the realization of these systems. Another area that characterizes systems engineering is the interaction with other disciplines in interdisciplinary work. Some people wrongly confused with systems engineering or computer engineering computer when it is much closer to the electronics and mechanics when applied.

History
This area began to develop in the second half of the twentieth century with the rapid development of systems science. Companies began to have a growing acceptance that systems engineering could manage unpredictable behavior and the appearance of unexpected features of the systems (emergent properties). Decisions made at the beginning of a project, the consequences may not have been clearly understood, have enormous implications later in life the system. A systems engineer to explore these issues and make critical decisions. No methods to ensure that decisions made today will be valid when the system is put into service years or decades after being conceived.

What does a systems engineer?

The engineer's task affects all aspects of the production of quality software. Participate in the creation, production, rationalization, design and control of systems, equipment and computing facilities. It takes into account all the entities that make up a computer system (hardware, software, services and customers) to support the processes of an organization. Its purpose is the application of technology to building computers able to process and store the information automatically. One of the main differences in systems engineering over other traditional engineering disciplines, is that systems engineering builds no tangible products. While civil engineers could design buildings, bridges, systems engineers work with abstract elements, using the methodologies of systems science, and trust also in other disciplines to design and deliver the tangible products that are the realization of these systems. The systems engineer is able to: - Develop, evaluate and optimize software. - Designing computational resources. - Create mathematical models, statistical and simulation. - Carry out scientific research, cultural and technological. - Direct and coordinate working groups. - Evaluate and install equipment. - Develop the organization and architecture of computers. - Select and manage the personnel and equipment of computer services units.
