College Counseling Educational Programming Sessions


In Year 10 and 11, students are encouraged to make connections between what they are learning/doing now at NIST and the world of work In Year 12 and 13 students apply what they know about themselves to the search for an appropriate university/career/major or other post-secondary endeavor. Students consider:

Parents are encouraged to participate in the Naviance Experience Account Access User Name and Password have been emailed to you already This tool can serve as a way for parents and children to have an open dialogue about post-high school planning Parent can make suggestions and monitor student planning and help in the research and exploration process

NIST parents are registered on Naviance (limited view) Provides parents with information regarding: Workshops College visits Emails from counselors Student Surveys Students university lists Parents can research careers, majors, and universities in the same way as their children Increases communication between students and parents regarding university research and application decisions

Allows them to upload Letters of Recommendation to students files Gives them access to students resumes

Helps us keep track of which universities our students are applying to Allows us to upload our school documents (teacher/counselor letters of recommendation, transcript, extra curricular verification sheet, essays submitted to universities, school profile and IB predicted grades) and send 80 % of NIST university applications online Helps us track how successful students have been in their applications
