Leading Public Safety Union Cite Strong Support For Firefighters And Their Families.
EGG HARBOR TWP, NJ The Professional Firefighters Association of New Jersey recently announced their support of Assemblymen John Amodeo and Chris Brown for re-election to the New Jersey General Assembly in the Second Legislative District. Amodeo and Brown were two of only three Republicans who received the organizations endorsement statewide. It is a privilege to receive the support of an organization that represents the brave firefighters that work tirelessly to keep our communities safe on a daily basis, said Amodeo. I am proud of Chris and my record in the Assembly fighting and advocating for those who work tirelessly on behalf of New Jerseys families. A major endorsement from one of New Jerseys leading public safety organizations, PFANJ is the statewide organization representing professional firefighters, emergency medical and allied support services personnel with 4,000 uniformed first responders throughout New Jersey and affiliated with the 270,00 member International Association of Fire Fighters. Locally, the organizations membership includes: Local 198, Atlantic City; Local 2657, Brigantine; Local 4370, Linwood; Local 2364, Northfield; Locals #2616 and 4928, Pleasantville; and, Local S18 representing the A.C. International Airport Firefighters. Serving the people in the Legislature has taught me about the sacrifices we all have had to make, but nothing compares to the sacrifices firefighters make every day when they respond to calls for help, said Brown. Be it medical, a life threatening fire in our home, or to help a senior citizen who had taken a bad fall, our firefighters answer the call so I am proud to answer their call in Trenton. In addition to a strong record for working families, Amodeo and Brown have successfully passed this session a number of bills directly supporting firefighters and their families. They sponsored the law ensuring lifetime benefits go to spouses of police, fire personnel killed on duty1 and honoring emergency personnel for their service during Hurricane Sandy2. Amodeo also sponsored the law permitting first responders the full use of ATVs improving response times and saving lives3. They also sponsored legislation that provides immunity for first responders when a 911 call is placed.4 Together, Amodeo and Brown are proud to have earned the support of over a million union households across New Jersey for their campaign for Assembly. Amodeos previous endorsements include: the New Jersey State AFL-CIO, The NJ State Building & Construction Trades Council and the Health Professional and Allied Employees. By working across party lines and advancing an aggressive agenda for the residents of Atlantic County, John and Chris shepherded over 60 bills through to passage in the Assembly with 41 now enacted into law making them the most effective Assembly team representing Atlantic County in 12 years. A recent public opinion poll by the William J. Hughes Center for Public Policy at Richard Stockton College shows Amodeo and Brown hold healthy leads on their challengers.
