Check-In & Check-Out

**Over the course of the semester, you will become familiar with the classrooms check-in & check-out policy. **

Check-In
Prior to the bell ring you must have picked up a Check-In Sheet, which may contain topic intro/review questions, writing prompts, or key ideas that pertains to the days class lesson. You must follow the directions of the Check-In Sheet and do so in the first 5 minutes of the class period. Completing and discussing the Check-In will be our daily warm-up activity. After completing the Check-In, youre going to want to save it because on the opposite side is the Check-Out section.

Check-Out
In order to be able to leave the room at the end of the period, you will need to Check-Out which occurs by finishing the activity on the Check-Out side of the paper and turning it into the teacher. You will have approximately the last 5 minutes of class to finish the Check-Out. Check-Outs not only help in providing the attendance for the day and a means of participation but also evaluates whether the goals of the lesson have been accomplished.

Attendance & Preparation

-Have all necessary materials (required always are text, binder, pen/pencil!) and be in your assigned seat when the bell rings. I will be strictly enforcing the district attendance policy.

Cell Phone/Electronics Policy

-Cell phone or electronics use (examples include iPods, calculators with games, etc.) is strictly prohibited. I strictly follow the CB West cell phone policy. If you violate the electronics policy, I will deduct points from your class participation grade, as this use is not only distracting you from your work but also your peers from learning.

Make-up Work
- If you are absent for any reason, it is your responsibility to complete any assignment (homework, project, tests, etc.) that was given, collected, or discussed while you were out. I will gladly take

the time to discuss or explain any assignments that you missed, but I will not come after you to make sure you have picked all missed assignments. After you are absent, the best way to get caught up is to examine the make-up work bin. We will discuss where that bin will be located.

Grading (100%)
Major Assessments (50%) -This category of assessments can include larger projects, essays, and traditional exams, quizzes, and quests. Daily Assignments (35%) -Examples include daily homework and class activities. Examples of class activities may include partner assignments or response assignments. Check-In/Check-Out (10%) -Each day a turned in check-in / check-out slip will count as two points. You will receive 1 point for completing all the questions and 1 point for effort (shows that you tried to answer the question or complete the task to the best of your ability). Participation (5%) -Everyone starts with a perfect participation score. This grade focuses on quality participation of a student and he or she respectfully interacting with their peers or the teachers during class. Putting forth your best effort, volunteering your ideas, and working cooperatively will keep this grade high. Ways in which a participation grade can suffer include sleeping in class and disregarding the procedures and directions of the class.

FINAL EXAMINATION
-You will be required to take a comprehensive final examination. The final examination is worth 20% of the course grade. There is both an essay section and an objective question section. The essay is worth 30% of the exam grade and the objective portion is worth 70%. Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
Homework Policy? On daily homework, only assignments handed in at the beginning of class count for full credit. If you hand in the assignment later in the period or you turn it in ONE day after it is due, then you lose 50%. I will not accept any daily homework assignments more than a day late.

Extra Credit? There will be NO extra credit assignments given. However, you do have the opportunity to earn AB Bucks as the course progresses, which can help your grades. Retests? - There will be NO retests in this course. Make the most out of the first opportunity. If I miss the review day, do I have to take the test? Yes, if you miss the review day(s) and show up the day of the test, then you will be required to take the test/quiz because you have not missed any new material.
