Sexuality and Reproductive Pattern Prior to confinement, the client who has been faithfully married for fifty-four

years has proudly stated that hes happy and contented because he had a great wife. According to his son and nephew, they dont think that their father is sexually active anymore due to his old age and present physical status. They said that his father used to say that hes very fulfilled in life just be looking at his children. The client got married at twenty-four years old and had five children who are now professionals and can be counted in to continue his farming of their rice field. Seeing the fruits of the couples love made the client very thankful and satisfied with his sexuality and reproductive life. According to his son, his father is physically, sexually and reproductively in well state, he is circumcised as well as his son and didnt had any problems such as urinary tract infection and sexually transmitted infections. But recently, based on the examinations of his doctor, the client had a benign prostatic hyperplasia. During confinement, he has been sleeping most of the time in the hospital (4A MS Ward RM#421). His wife has been at his side, as well as his family taking care of him. According to his wife, he is really a good husband and likewise she is satisfied with her sexual experience and was proud that they were able to reproduce five good children. They express their affection by hugs and kisses, holding hands, or being with each other side by side. After confinement, the client felt better especially his wife being at her side. He cant wait to get home so he can spend time with his wife and family. He and his wife understood that he cannot do any strenuous activity/ sexual intercourse for three weeks after discharge. And the client and his family took note that he has to avoid any position or any straining action that can increase intraabdominal pressure. Sleep and Rest Pattern Prior to confinement, the client stated that he resides at his house in Cagayan province. He said that he usually have a good sleep and rest. His usual sleeping pattern for each day is he sleeps from eight o'clock in the evening and wakes up at four o'clock in the morning which a total of 8 hours of sleep a day. The client reported that his sleep is "tuloy-tuloy" as verbalized by the client. He also added that he usually takes an1 hour nap in the afternoon. By looking at the field or the view from his balcony this relaxes him. And he also watches television or sits at his balcony to feel the fresh air. On May 2013, he had his physical check-up and was diagnosed by their family doctor that he has an inguinal hernia. At that moment, he never really bothered to get the hernia removed or seek further medical attention because it didnt really caused any pain or restrict him from any movement. But on August 2013, he felt pain on his inguinal area and this greatly affects his sleep. I fall asleep for 30 minutes to an hour and then wake up again because of pain, thats how bad it was as verbalized by client. The son reported that, four months ago, hes been having an on and off cough which disturbed his sleep and adding more to his fathers pain. His father took Guaifenesin syrup, 400 mg. every four hours for his cough and Mefenamic Acid, 500 mg. every six hours which was prescribed to him by their family doctor. This only provided him a temporary comfort. During confinement on September 2, 2013 at De Los Santos Medical Center, the client felt a little uneasy due to his scheduled procedure, Hernioplasty with Transurethral Resection of

the Prostate,but he was willing to do it so his pain would go away and for the betterment of his physical functioning. He understood why the procedure needed to take place. And he cooperated well with all the preparations that were needed to be done. For the client, he stated that he felt lesser pain, and better sleep and rest compared to his prior confinement. According to his son, he eventually felt comfortable at the hospital because his doctors and other medical team were nice to him and to their family. His son stated that his father sleeps a lot most of the time, watches television and entertain some visitors a little bit then he goes back to sleep again. After confinement, the client felt very happy and comfortable that he can rest and sleep continuously. The surgery gave the client a great relief. He understood that he needed to rest more to continuously recover from the surgery. He is very thankful that he can go back to his regular sleeping and rest pattern and be able to go home with his wife and family.
