After you scoop out and carve your pumpkin, dip it in a large container of bleach and water (use a 1 tsp:1 gal mix). The bleach will kill bacteria and help your pumpkin stay fresh longer. Once completely dry, (drain upside down), add 2 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice to a quart of water. Brush this solution onto your pumpkin to keep it looking fresh for weeks.

Bob, Fantastic. 500,000 people rescued in nine hours. We certainly were busy watching the news right after 9/11. Some, Im sure, never saw this. It's been 12 years since this happened. This is a video well worth watching. The guy at the end (same guy who is at the beginning) has some great words to live by for all of us. Watch till the end. You won't regret it.
Dear louise****, We have your email address but need an important item. Please give us your name and class year so we can add your name to our member list. Thanx.
Henry
Dear Mary, Thanks for your response. Just out of curiosity, do you have a granddaughter named Louise, who was born on April 1, 1993? Best, Henry Mary (Birosh) Johnson 1966 By the way, Henry. When DOES the Newsletter get sent? Thanks, Mary Hi Mary, I have an appointment to go to now, but I will explain how the HixNewsletter works later this afternoon (I am on the West Coast so it might be later this evening for you). Catch you later! Henry Okay - thank you! Mary
Henry
No, I don't have a granddaughter by that name. Mary Mary I was trying to figure out what your moniker "louise****" represents. Best, Henry
Mary, The HixNewsletter is always posted online at our homepage: http://hixnews.com When our homepage opens, click |The Newsletter link in the upper left of the orange header to get to the current issue of the Newsletter. The lastest issue is posted usually on the first of the month, and it remains there as the "current issue" until the following month's issue is posted. What is emailed (by me) to all the members is an announcement that the latest issue of the Newsletter has been posted. You don't actually need the emailed announcement to access the Newsletter online. My emailed announcement is just a courtesy to our members. Best, Henry
Good morning Buffalo Bob and Friends reaching out to you folks who do a superlative job each and every month for years keeping the flame burning as it should be. I've read the to be in two years reunion is cancelled as to not enough interest and thats sad. Be that as it may, in two years it would be our BIG 50th year Anniversary. Is there any way possible you folks can steer it in the right direction to have some heavy wt T' shirts class colors made ie: HICKSVILLE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1965 like the ones made for Class of 1963 Exact School Colors? I for one would gladly purchase a few as it pulls at the heart strings big time more than you could ever imagine. Lets keep the home fires burning brightly for years and years to come. Please let me know in your NOT so busy schedule por favor'. Again, thank you for all you and your staff do for HHS "Youre the best". Mark "Mujel" Leon 1965
It saddens me to inform you of the passing of my dearest friend Kathleen (Kathy) Colvell Kalogeras, class of 1965 (March 12, 2012).
Thank you.
Arlene Richards Wellbrock 1965
Editors: Please send my sincere condolences to Maureen Thogode Klingenberg on the passing of her husband Arnie. It was a pleasure spending time with them the day before the 1961 50th Reunion (September 2011) at the high school. We toured the school together and had wonderful memories. I will keep both of them and their family in my prayers. Bonnie (Scharr) Papes
Hi, Missed your wonderful newsletter this month because I forgot to notify you of my new email address. Please change Linda Gund Agers email to (concealed). We had to change providers due to the squabble between Time Warner and CBS. How dumb of TWC; bet they lost lots of customers. Thank you Linda 1964
Editor NoteLindaThe newsletter is always available on our website http:// hixnews.com The fact that you didn't send us your new email has no effect on the newsletter. The first of each month finds the new newsletter posted at hixnews. Just click the above link, then bookmark the browser into your favorites. Each month, on the first, just click the book marked hyperlink. Love Yah Buffalo Bob
Linda, sorry you missed your notification email. I think it's never a good idea to have a primary email address tied to a service provider when there are some good free alternatives that avoid the problems of having to change. I recommend gmail.com very highly.
We can't edit your email address in the mailing list, but you can do so very easily. Just visit hixnews.com and subscribe with your new address on the main page. Let us know if you have any problems. Roger Whitaker, webmaster for hixnews.com
I can't access Photo Gallery on the Hicksville website. Also, I visited Daryl Peterman in Selden and learned he moved down south in the Carolinas somewhere. Thanks for trying. Bob Uhlich 1957
Editor NoteI can go to the Photo Gallery link and it starts playing very quickly but there is no video to the file, just audio. Thats probably the issue everyone is having. Maybe repost the file? The same thing happens in Memory LaneDavid
Editor Note from RogerI think it may be dependent on what browser you're using. I've seen all variations. Acts like it's loading, but nothing happens for 10 minutes, other browsers only have the audio and (ugh) IE plays the file eventually on my slow connection.
More from DavidYep. Chrome tries to play it in the browser, no video. IE10 tries to download it and open it outside of the browser. Audio and Video. Love these browser wars NOT!
More from RogerI'm guessing that a Mac with Safari would be like Chrome browser since they share the webkit rendering engine. I'm not rich enough to own a Mac, but one of my entrepreneurial 14 year old granddaughters earned the money to buy her own.
