R.V. College of Engineering (RVCE), Bengaluru, India, is one of the premier technical institutes of the country. Established in 1963, RVCE is celebrating its Golden Jublee this year. The college currently has about 5200 students and over 400 faculty and 250 supporting staff. RVCE currently offers 12 Bachelors and 22 Masters programs (annual intake of about 1750 students), and carries out research and consultancy activities in all departments, with provision for Ph.D. studies. RVCE has set a vision Leadership in Quality Technical Education, Research & Innovation, through Teamwork, with a focus on Development of Sustainable and Inclusive Technology. RVCE is an Autonomous Institution affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. The institute has been rated among the top 6 institutions in India for Industry-Academic Collaboration by the recent (Nov, 2012) AICTE-CIIPWC survey. In April 2013, RVCE has been ranked as the Best Engineering College for promoting excellence in higher education through Research, Innovation and Academics by VTU CANEUS (USA) and NDRF as well as VIT University, Vellore. Over 25 companies have invested in labs and facilitated courses in the college. The faculty is actively involved in R & D and consultancy with public and private organizations. As of now, RVCE has funded projects to tune of over ` 40 Crores.

Objectives of the Workshop

F To provide a basic knowledge of Non Destructive Testing (NDT) and few of the

important and universally used techniques such as Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Radiography Testing (RT), Eddy Current Testing (ET), Magnetic Practical Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT). F To enable participants to carryout NDT tests according to an established procedure and specifications. F To provide a sound theoretical knowledge and practical skills for carrying out Ultrasonic Testing (UT). Eminent personalities and experts from Trinity NDT will lead discussion and deliver invited talk. This workshop will help in enhancing the skills of Faculty and Post Graduate students in the field of Non Destructive Testing and also help to assess quality characteristics of materials without breaking them.

About the Workshop

In this world of competitiveness, industries are struggling to achieve the excellence by optimizing their resources without compromising on quality. In this connection Non Destructive Testing plays a vital role in assessing the quality characteristics of materials without affecting their future usefulness. The goal of the workshop is to educate the faculty and post graduate students of various engineering institutions about the state of art techniques, specific applications and demonstration of tools to access the quality and reliability of different materials using different Non Destructive Testing methods.
