Function The BSD is a fire damper suitable for circular ducts. The device prevents the spread of fire and smoke in insulated ventilation ducts. In the case of a temperature rise in the ductwork, the thermal fuse releases allowing the springs to close the damper blades. The device can be set and test released, because the thermal fuse is reusable. The outer indicator handle also functions as a position indicator. The BSD is set from outside the device and can be installed in any direction. The nominal fuse release temperatures are +50C or +74C, but +65C, +100C, +120C, +150C or +200C are available for special cases.

Installation CODE DESCRIPTION 1 2 3 4 Fire damper Reusable fuse Installation frame Handle / position indicator

The fire damper is fixed on a compartment wall or in a duct from the installation flange, either directly or with the aid of the GM installation frame. There are no restrictions on the position of use. Check the function of the fire damper before installation. Clean the damper after installation. Set the fire damper by turning the shut-off blade to the desired position with the aid of the indicator handle. Lock the damper by turning the fuse manually.

Servicing A released damper can be reset once the fuse temperature is lower than the release temperature. If the shut-off blade does not lock, the fuse has be worn out and must be replaced.

Function The FDC is a circular fire damper of fire resistance class EIS 30-EIS 120, which prevents fire and smoke from spreading in ventilation ducts The fire damper is equipped with either a motorised actuator or manual actuation arrangement. In both options, a fuse reacts to a rise in temperature, causing a spring-return blade to close. If the power in the motorised actuator system is switched off, the blade closes automatically. The fire damper is made of fireproof materials. Once the fire damper has closed, the double sealing closes the duct tightly, effectively preventing the spreading of flue gases in the ventilation ductwork. The flexible seal of the double sealing system operates at lower temperatures, while the graphite mass seal expands to insulate the system at temperatures above 150 C. The fire damper is delivered complete with a springreturn actuator and a fuse that is activated at 72 C. The fire damper can also be delivered as a manually operated unit. Both actuators have a visual position indicator. The FDC fire damper can be connected to the MSH control and testing system for fire dampers. The MSH enables the use of smoke detectors in the ductwork or rooms. The FDC fire damper can also be connected to other common building automation systems.

Installation Installation on concrete and masonry walls When the fire damper is installed on concrete and masonry walls and ceilings between fire compartments, the blade shaft is always horizontal. An opening is always left in the separating element for the fire damper, and the product is subsequently grouted into this. To make installation easier, all products come with an installation flange, which is used to fasten the fire damper to the concrete surface with screws before grouting. During installation, the fire damper and actuator must be protected with, e.g., a plastic cover. The correct operation of the fire damper must be ensured before and after grouting. When the damper is installed on concrete and masonry walls or ceilings, the size of the installation hole is D+50 mm. Installation on lightweight plasterboard walls When the fire damper is installed on lightweight plasterboard walls between fire compartments, an opening for the fire damper must be left on the plasterboard in which the installation frame (accessory) is first mounted. The blade shaft must always be horizontal. To make installation easier, the fire damper comes with an installation flange, which is used to fasten the fire damper to, e.g., the steel frame of the panel wall. The space between the fire damper and the installation frame is filled with a fire prevention mastic. During installation, the fire damper and actuator must be protected with, e.g., a plastic cover. The correct operation of the fire damper must be ensured after application of the fire prevention mastic. For lightweight walls, the size of the installation hole varies according to the product in question. The size should be chosen on the basis of the size of the installation frame (accessory). Material and finishing The FDR fire damper casing, installation flange and installation frame are made of galvanised steel. The closing blade is made of calcium silicate and equipped with a flexible silicone seal as well as a graphite mass seal that expands at high temperatures.

Function The FDR is a fire damper of class EIS 30.EIS 120 for circular or rectangular ducts, which prevents fire and smoke from spreading in ventilation ducts. The fire damper is equipped with either a motorised actuator or manual actuation arrangement. In both options, a fuse reacts to a rise in temperature, causing a springreturn blade to close. The FDR fire damper can be connected to the MSH control and testing system for fire dampers. The MSH enables the use of smoke detectors in the ductwork or rooms. The FDR fire damper can also be connected to other common building automation systems.

Installation Installation on masonry walls When the fire damper is installed on concrete and masonry walls and ceilings between fire compartments, the blade shaft is always horizontal. When the damper is installed concrete and masonry walls and ceilings, the size of the installation hole is B/H + 100 mm Installation on lightweight plasterboard walls When the fire damper is installed on lightweight plasterboard walls between fire compartments, an opening for the fire damper must be left on the plasterboard in which the installation frame (accessory) is first mounted. The blade shaft must always be horizontal. To make installation easier, the fire damper comes with an installation flange, which is used to fasten the fire damper to, e.g., the steel frame of the panel wall. The space between the fire damper and the installation frame is filled with a fire prevention mastic. During installation, the fire damper and actuator must be protected with. e.g.. a plastic cover. The correct operation of the fire damper must be ensured after application of the fire prevention mastic. For lightweight walls, the size of the installation hole is B/H+110 mm. The size should be chosen on the basis of the size of the installation frame (accessory). Detailed installation instructions, as well as an installers installation certificate form, are supplied with each product.

Function The valve throttles the exhaust airflow and attenuates the duct noise. The pressure drop is dependant on the position of the central cone. The desired exhaust airflow rate is adjusted during the balancing of the airflows in a ductwork system.

Servicing CODE DESCRIPTION 1 2 3 Central cone Locking nut Collar

Loosen the valve from the ductwork by turning antiThe fire damper contains a thermal fuse, which releases the cone to the closed position with the help of a spring. The thermal fuse is released at +50C or at +74C . clockwise. Note the adjusted opening position of the central cone. Wipe the parts with a damp cloth, instead of immersing in water. Reassemble valve in reverse order after cleaning. Adjustment The valve is adjusted by rotating the central cone. Measure the opening (A) position (in mm) of the central cone. Set a probe inside the valve and measure the differential pressure with a manometer. The airflow rate is calculated using the formula below. After the adjustment, lock the central cone with the locking nut. The exhaust valve is mounted with the aid of a separate installation frame LF , GF or DF . Push the installation frame into the duct and fix it. Push the valve into the installation frame and turn until it is firmly attached.

Pressure drop data

The SSA is a fire damper suitable for rectangular and circular ducts. The damper prevents the spread of fire and smoke in insulated ventilation ducts. The SSA is suitable for installation either horizontally or vertically so that the blades close downwards. Various release mechanisms are possible. A temperature increase in a ventilation duct causes a thermal fuse release, allowing the springs to close the damper blades. The bottom blade is locked after the curtain has closed, preventing accidental reopening. The standard nominal fuse release temperatures are +50 and +72 C, but release temperatures of +65, +100, +150 and +200 C are available.

Installation Install the damper with the blades in horizontal or vertical position in the ductwork. For vertical installation, note that the blades are to close downwards. Fasten the damper in the ductwork using slip joints or using fastening flanges. Use a seal between the flanges in order to tighten the seam. Fasten the circular connections by riveting or screwing. The damper is installed on a compartment wall or in a duct by use of the fastening flange (AC=FL) or in conjunction with an installation frame (AC=GM, AC =FL) and is set with the aid of the indicator handle (see details in drawing below). When the required dimension exceeds 1000 mm, the damper is constructed in modular form. Modular installations are constructed with a GM frame with the size of the duct opening and FL modules. See the drawing below. To enable checking, cleaning and setting, an inspection panel has to be positioned close to the fire damper. The fuse can be changed by opening the quick-release fastener and attaching the new fusible link in the fastener.

MSH - Fire Damper Management System

150

20/MSH/3500/0606/EN

The MSH fire damper management system has three important functions: 1. close the fire dampers when a fire breaks out 2. regularly test the fire dampers to ensure that they are in operational condition 3. ensure that the fire dampers are open in normal conditions and that ventilation can operate as planned Fire Each fire damper is equipped with a thermal fuse, which closes the damper when the temperature rises above 72 C. If any of the thermal fuses is released, all the fire dampers connected to the MSH unit are immediately closed. If the system is equipped with smoke detectors, all fire dampers connected to the MSH unit in question are immediately closed to the safety position when the smoke detector indicates an early fire.

The MSH system regularly tests the operation of the fire dampers to ensure that they operate correctly should a fire break out. The testing can be timecontrolled and set to take place at desired intervals (1 to 9 days) for example, every other day. To test the system, the MSH unit sends a switch-off command to the air handling unit control system. When the fan stops, the MSH unit closes the fire dampers to the safety position and ensures that all the fire dampers are closed. After that, all dampers are reopened and the fan is able to start again. If an error is detected in the operation of any of the dampers, the MSH system issues a service alarm.
