ThesystemrequirementsfortheIRVSDatabaseareasfollows: Pentium4orequivalentprocessor WindowsXPorlater MSAccessRuntimeorMSAccess2007orlater MSExcel2007orlater 256MBofRAM AdobeReader ThedatabasehasaplottingfunctionthatdisplayssitecoordinatesandIRVSinformationonadigitalmap ifthecomputerhasanexternalmappingprogramthatiscapableofdisplayingaKeyholeMarkup Language(KML)file.KMLisanXMLbasedlanguagethatisusedtodisplaythreedimensionalspatial datainmappingprogramssuchasGoogleEarth.

2. Installation
Thedatabaseshouldbeinstalledonacomputerattheorganizationsheadquarters(thiscopywill becometheMasterDatabase)andalsoononeormorelaptopsthatwillbeusedinthefield(thiscopy willbecometheFieldDatabase). Theinstallationstepsareasfollows: 1. Ifyouhavealreadydownloadedthesoftware,findtheSETUP.EXEfilebyselectingStartatthe bottomleftoftheWindowsscreen,selectRun,andthentypingthelocationoftheSETUP.EXEfile (i.e.,CD,C:/Temp,oranotherlocationontheharddrive).WhenyouhavefoundtheSETUP.EXEfile, skiptoStep#3.Ifyouhavenotdownloadedtheprogram,gotoStep#2. 2. GototheDHSWebsiteathttp://www.dhs.gov/files/programs/scitechbipstools.shtmandfollow theinstructionsfordownloadingthesoftware. 3. CloseallotherprogramsanddoubleclickontheSETUP.EXEfile. 4. TheIRVSDatabaseSetupWizardwillappear.SelectNext.

5. AscreenshowingtheEndUserLicenseAgreementwillappear.Readtheagreement,selectIAccept thetermsoftheLicenseAgreementandNext.

6. TheCustomerInformationmenuwillappear.Fillintheusernameandorganization.SelectNext.

7. TheChooseSetupTypemenuwillappear.InmostcasesyoushouldfollowtheTypicalInstallation. TheCustomInstallationallowstheusertochangethefilenameand/orfilelocation.Thismaybea requirementunderanorganizationssecuritypolicy.CheckwithyourSystemAdministratoras

needed.SelectTypicaloronCustom,asdirectedbyyoursystemadministrator,whichwillmake Nextselectable,andthenselectNext.

8. TheReadytoInstallmenuwillappear.SelectInstall.Theamountoftimerequiredforthe installationdependsonthecomputer. 9. Whentheinstallationiscomplete,thescreenbelowwillappear.SelectFinish.

3. Logging on
Thissectionexplainshowtologonusingapreloadedorassignedusernameandpassword.Assigning usernamesisanadministrativefunctionthatisavailableonlytothosewithpermissiontoaccess administrativefunctions.SeeSection10.6.2forinstructionsonassigningusernames. 1. DoubleclickonthedesktopiconfortheIRVSDatabasethatwascreatedduringtheinstallationor clicktheStartbuttonandthenAllPrograms/IRVSv2.Thedatabasemayalsobeopenedbydouble

clickingthedatabasefile(filename:iRVSv2.accdr)inthenewlycreatedIRVSfolder.Note:thisisa MSRuntimefilesoitcannotbeopenedafterstartingMSAccess.

2. AtthefirstscreentitledPasswordRequiredandEnterthedatabasepassword:,enterthe encryptionpasswordissuedwiththeparticulardownloadedfile.(NoUserNameisrequiredatthis step.)Thegenericdatabasepasswordis:IRVS2011(Selectedorganizationsmayreceivea tailoredversionoftheIRVStoolwithadifferentdatabasepassword.)Thisdatabasepassworddoes notchange.UserNamesandPasswordsmaybechangedaslistedbelow.

Reminder:thegenericdatabasepasswordis:IRVS2011 AfterenteringthedatabasepasswordselectOK,andtheLoginScreenisdisplayed.

3. IntheLogonmenu,ifyoudonthaveanassignedusername,skiptoStep#4.Ifyouhaveanassigned username,enterit.Leavethepasswordblank.SelectOK.Youwillbeaskedtocreateapassword. 4.
