What does the job involve?

Video Editing - The ideal Video Editor is expected to have proven experience within a similar role using Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Photoshop etc., as you will be required to play an integral part in illustrating and capturing the amazing games in production, creating ground-breaking, cinematic masterpieces in the process. Software Developers - Software developers (or computer programmers) are the brains behind the design, installation, testing and maintenance of software systems, much more than just playing around with codes, if you work with software you'll play an important part in making a business more efficient and helping to provide a better IT service. Directors - Directors are responsible for creatively translating the film's written script into actual images and sounds on the screen - he or she must visualize and define the style and structure of the film, then act as both a storyteller and team leader to bring this vision to reality. This role requires a highly motivated, proactive and ambitious individual with an interest and knowledge of games consoles. Good organisational and communication skills should be combined with the ability to work under pressure within tight deadlines.

What type of job is it?

Games Tester and Directors and of these jobs are creative jobs. Video editing is a technical and creative job. Development software is a technical job.

What qualifications are required for the role?

Educated to degree level or equivalent, preferably in Information Technology, Multimedia, Graphic Design or Film/Television related fields. Successful candidates will have a good degree in a computer-related subject such as Computer Science or Information Technology and/or be able to demonstrate experience of hands-on development and database skills, including experience with MS Visual Studio, JavaScript, MVC, PHP, HTML, CSS, Java and SQL. The ideal candidate will be have proven experience in licensing sales, effective client management skills and will have an understanding of the sales cycle process ranging from business development to contract management and implementation.

Ensure localized assets are correctly translated, consistent with the English source and correctly implemented in to the game. Test software from the instructions provided to the required timescale across all the current game platforms including PC, Xbox 360, PSP, PS3, DS, Wii, DSi and 3DS. Conform during testing to the format holders and clients standards. Accurately record bugs found, by entering them into the database in a clear and concise manner and providing viable solutions to the issues.

What experience do the ask for?

Minimum 5 + years experience with Video Editing A strong portfolio with a show reel highlighting your video editing capabilities

Solid experience with digital technology and editing software packages (Final Cut Pro, After Effects, Premier, Photoshop)
Excellent knowledge of timing, motivation, continuity etc. Proven experience with special effects, 3D and composting

Experience of inputting music and dialogue

Experience of creating motion graphics and effects Self-motivated, team player with very strong work ethic and cooperation

What transferable skills do they ask for?

Where do you want to be? What do you want to be doing?

I want to be in a job doing video editing or making videos for a company either as trailers for games, TV programmes, documentaries or movies. Or I would like to edit the actual movie, TV programme or documentaries.

What courses do you have to do to get there?

No specific qualifications are required. However, the following subjects may increase your chances and provide you with useful experience:

communication and media studies

photography/film/television fine art/visual art information technology/multimedia graphic design.

Research companies in the area where you can do work experience

I can get work experience from ITV basted in Bristol or some programmes that are made in Bristol I can get work experience for working for Warminster radio station.

I can build my own portfolio while I look for work experience.

What can I do to make my dream happen?

I can do some work experience in production, editing, radio or any other media related experience, or a part time job in media while I try to get a qualification in media from college and go onto a level 3 and get that qualification to help me get a full time job in the media industry or become a freelancer Director with the portfolio If I dont get a job in any of the other sectors I would like to go into.
