4 Unit instaIIation
This chapter gives general instructions on installing the units oI the Nokia
UltraSite EDGE BTS.
4.1 Working order
The Iollowing is the recommended task list Ior the installation oI Nokia
UltraSite EDGE BTS units.
To instaII units to the BTS, proceed in the foIIowing working order:
1. VeriIy that the installation tools are available on site.
2. Store the unit in the delivery package until installation.
3. PerIorm the installation tasks according to the instructions in this
document.
4. AIter installing the units, keep some oI the packing material Ior returning
units and recycle the remaining material.
4.2 Unit positions
The Nokia SiteWizard HW ConIiguration report gives instructions on how to
correctly position plug-in units in the cabinet. Figure 28 and Figure 29 illustrate
the position oI plug-in units in the Nokia UltraSite EDGE BTS.

5 Combining options
This chapter provides illustrations oI various cabinet conIigurations and
combining options Ior the Nokia UltraSite EDGE BTS.
5.1 Cabinet configurations
222, DVxx, Combining By-pass, IBBU
666, DVxx, 2-Way Wideband Combining, IBBU

Nokia recommends that only properly trained and authorized personnel perIorm installation,
cabling, commissioning, and maintenance operations on any Nokia BTS.
5.2 Combining options
Nokia UltraSite EDGE BTS supports various combining options. You can
conIigure Nokia UltraSite EDGE BTS very Ilexibly using the Iollowing
combining principles:
Combining By-pass: no combining used.
Wideband Combining (WBC):
2-Way WBC: signals Irom two TSxx units are combined to one
antenna, using one WCxx unit.
4-Way WBC: signals Irom Iour TSxx units combine to one
antenna, using two parallel WCxx units in series with a single
WCxx unit.
Remote Tune Combining (RTC):
signals Irom 6 TSxx units combine to one antenna with one RTxx
unit.
CTXX5038
ssue 2.0
Nokia Networks Oy 47 (57)
with two RTxx units, 12 TRxx units connect to two antennas (no
separate antenna Ior RX diversity needed)
Dual Band Combining:
GSM 900 and GSM 1800 units operate in the same cabinet
You can use any oI the combining options above within each band.
DU2x can combine RF signals into dualband antennas (optional)
Terminate unused RX outputs and use dust caps Ior any unused antenna ports.
