1. EAP? Or EOP? For me, I can say that our study is geared towards English as Academic Purposes (EAP) as well as English for Occupational Purposes (EOP). I say that it tackles to EAP because our study is about a program that we will give to the security guards who lack the skills that they need and at the same time to the security guards who are willing to take their time and join the program. For me, it is an academic purpose because in here, security guards are trained and taught based on their skills needed for their job. I can also say that our study also tackles to EOP because this has something to do with the job of the security guards. This program will help the security guards in identifying their needs and developing what they lack for the benefits of their job.

3. Goals and Objectives The observed needs that motivated us to explore the language needs of the security guards are the speaking skills as well as the writing skills of the security guards. As a concern Silliman University student, we consider the safety precautions of the school and the way security guards communicate to different kinds of people since our school is known as a foreign school that is open to everyone. Since this is a universal school and it is already expected in the minds of every people that they look at Silliman University as a high standard school, then we want equal treatment here. It is not because they are

just the security guards in the school do not mean that they should be taken for granted. Hence, they should be given extra needs because they are in the information area. This means that people who are coming in and out of the campus are the responsible of the security guards. People who dont know th e direction and further information about the school are negotiating directly to the security guards to know answers. We find it very important that security guards should have the skills they needed because they are dealing to different people every day.

b. Assessed or non assessed?

c. Immediate needs or delayed needs oriented? I would prefer that it would be immediate needs because this is the skills that are needed to the security guards. It should be immediate since this is a program given to the security guards as they enter the job.

d. Teacher centered (teacher as provider of knowledge) or learner centered (teacher as facilitator)? I would prefer it to be teacher centered and at the same time a learner centered. I say it should be teacher centered because

e. Broad (i.e Variety of skills and genres) or narrow (i.e. Few target events and skills) in focus?

f. Pre study/pre experience or parallel with the course/experience?

g. Common core or specific (to learners study or work) in focus?

h. Homogeneous or heterogeneous in composition?
