Utilizing the Danielson Framework as a Model for Highly Effective Teaching


Time: 4:30 7:00 pm A system for the evaluation of teaching can be a valuable tool for educators striving to be effective and highly effective teachers. These workshops are designed to explore one such evaluation system with the purpose of gaining a better understanding of the expectations that it suggests are necessary for reaching a level of effective teaching that is expected in todays educational environment. Day 1: Overview of the Danielson Structure October 8, 2013 How Danielson creates a structure within a complex system. The value of a common language for all stakeholders. The importance of designing a roadmap for new teacher development. Day 2: Explore Domain 1- Planning and Preparation October 15, 2013 Review and discussion of each of the 6 subcomponents of the Danielson Framework in domain. Examples provided and discussed showing ineffective, developing, effective, and highly effective strategies, techniques, and artifacts. Day 3: Exploring Domain 2 October 22, 2013 Review and discussion of each of the 5 subcomponents of the Danielson Framework in domain 2. Examples provided and discussed showing ineffective, developing, effective, and highly effective strategies, techniques, and artifacts. Day 4: Exploring Domain 3 October 29, 2013 Review and discussion of each of the 5 subcomponents of the Danielson Framework in domain 3. Examples provided and discussed showing ineffective, developing, effective, and highly effective strategies, techniques, and artifacts. Day 5: Exploring Domain 2/3 as a whole November 12, 2013 Review and discussion of Domain 2 and 3 of the Danielson Framework. Explore and discuss avenues in which domains 2 & 3 work together as a roadmap for a highly effective lesson. Day 6: Exploring Domain 4 November 19, 2013 Review and discussion of each of the 6 subcomponents of the Danielson Framework. Examples provided and discussed showing ineffective, developing, effective, and highly effective strategies, techniques, and artifacts.
