Intentionality: Residents go head to head in a battle of the sexes styled

jeopardy game. The game is set up as male vs. female. Residents will learn the difference between sex and gender. The entire game is framed, as a battle between the sexes, however, there is no winner to the actual competition because all of the questions and activities were based upon gender. In the discussion that follows the event, you can discuss that sex is the biological difference between male and female, and how gender is how a person performs masculinity and femininity and how a person identifies themselves. It is important to emphasize that gender is a social construct. Residents can submit questions they may have prior to the event and incorporate them into the PowerPoint game.

How to: Begin the program with the first PowerPoint file, which has just some
quirky differences between males and females. These are just conversation starters. Have the PowerPoint on loop while residents begin coming to the event. This PowerPoint is simply background information and entertainment. Once all residents are in attendance, begin with the Jeopardy PowerPoint. There are five categories. Dialogues are different scenes that each team has to act out. Definitions are simply that, definitions of words the other gender uses. Questions are about the opposite gender. They said what are phrases that the opposite gender uses. These four categories are answered about the other gender. The etiquette category is behaviors used by a certain gender, and that gender must explain them. For example, the male team picks a male m$100. They then must explain the why men behave the way they do with regards to that specific etiquette question. The boxes are labeled with a money amount, as well as M,F,or Q. M boxes are for males only to select. F boxes are

for the females to select. Q boxes are questions that both sexes can select. Once all the boxes have been used up, then go to the final jeopardy section and begin the explanation of what the game was truly about: the difference between sex and gender. Feel free to go into discussion about any other questions the residents may have. To access the program, have the residents answer the question what is the difference between sex and gender. Also, have the residents answer the question what did you learn about he opposite gender, or even your own gender. These can be put on a note card for the residents to answer and turn in.
