 PRE-KINDERGARTEN INFORMATION
Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD offers a half-day pre-kindergarten program based on state guidelines for eligible 4-year-olds.
Pre-kindergarten teachers work to develop the student’s oral language skills and basic concepts. All classes emphasize basic
language skills. Bilingual classes use both Spanish and English as the basic languages of instruction.

To be eligible for enrollment in a pre-kindergarten class, a child must be 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2009 and
meet one of the following criteria:
1. Unable to speak and comprehend the English language.
2. Educationally disadvantaged (Eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program.)
3. Homeless, as defined by 42 U.S.C. Section 11302, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or
of the child’s guardian or other person having lawful control of the child.
4. Child of military: active, reserved, missing in action or who have died.

To register, parents need to bring an original birth certificate, Social Security card, current immunization record and two proofs
of residency (lease agreement or mortgage, utility bill with name and address, driver’s license), proof of income (two recent
pay stubs) and emergency phone numbers for home, family physician, dentist and three personal emergency contacts.

Pre-kindergarten classes begin Monday, August 31, 2009, one week later than classes for other C-FB ISD students.
Students must complete the eligibility process before they can enroll in pre-kindergarten. Parents whose children are eligible
should register at the school designated for their elementary school attendance area. For the 2009-2010 school year,

Transportation service is provided by
Dallas County Schools for children
who live two miles or more from the
school which they would normally
attend. Students who attend more than

Special Education students are eligible
for transportation services when need
is established. Transportation is not
provided for students not meeting these
qualifications. Any questions regarding

(POS) system is available in all

Student Directory Information
Federal law provides that specified directory information concerning students is public information unless the parent or legal
guardian of the child requests that the information remain private. C-FB ISD has defined directory information as student’s
name, address, telephone number, email address, date and place of birth, major field of study, participation in officially
recognized activities and sports, weight and height if a member of an athletic team, dates of attendance, degrees and awards
received and the most previous educational agency or institution attended by the student.

Under Texas law, a parent now has options, including restricting information to outside third parties only or releasing information
for school-sponsored purposes only. Third parties may be vendors, companies or others who are interested in asking you or
your student to purchase products or services. School-sponsored purposes use of directory information include campus and
district publications, campus and district websites and the district’s cable TV channel.

C-FB ISD parents will receive the “Directory Information” Form at the first of the school year or when a student enrolls in a
C-FB ISD school. A parent who wishes to have student directory information marked “private” must fill out and return the form
to the student’s school within the required time period.
