St. Helens CWL ~ Elections CWL Meeting All ladies of the parish over the age of 16 are invited to attend our next meeting on Mon. Oct. 7. The evening will start with a prayer service at 6:30 followed by a brief meeting and our annual auction. This auction helps to fund our charities during the year. CWL Catch the Fire Presentation - Sat. Oct. 19th from 9:00 am - 2:30 pm. Just as a fire draws us in to see what is happening, we hope this Development Day will attract you to attend this opportunity to learn more about the League. Bring a lunch and come join your Haldimand Region CWL sisters at St. Martin's in Smithville for a Catch the Fire presentation. To register call Piera 905-563-4594 or Lorraine 905-5637043. As Catherine of Sienna said: "Be who you are meant to be and you will set the world on fire!" ~~~~~~~~~~~ The dynamic of faith, hope and charity (cf. 1 Th 1:3; 1 Cor 13:13) thus leads us to embrace the concerns of all men and women on our journey towards that city "whose architect and builder is God" (Heb 11:10), for "hope does not disappoint" (Rom 5:5). Niagara Falls will now be held at St. Thomas More Parish on November 9, 2013 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Lunch is $5.00 per person. THE MONTH OF OCTOBER is a good time to commit to praying the Rosary every day. The Rosary will bring great peace and holiness to your life. It is a powerful instrument for conversation. The Rosary is the best method of honouring Mary. It protects the Church from false teaching and keeps her safe from the attacks from the Enemy. There are some great ways to celebrate the month of the Holy Rosary Pray the Rosary everyday this month. Annual Offense Declarations Blitz for those in Ministry The Responsible Faith Committee will be requesting that you sign the annual offense declaration. The declaration is completed annually by those who have previously had a police check done. Basically you are signing the appropriate spot to indicate if anything has changed since your clearance was submitted. The declaration is done yearly so that you are not having to get a police check annually. Please remember that to remain on our list of active volunteers, you must submit a declaration. Diocesan Anniversary Mass & Dinner Married couples celebrating a 25th, 40th, 50th or 60th anniversary in the year 2013 are invited to the diocesan anniversary Mass, Monday November 25th, at 5:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Alexandria. To register and to receive a formal invitation from Bishop Bergie, contact the parish office to fill in a form. If you cannot serve on a scheduled date, please use the ministry list to find a replacement. Please take note that ministry schedules are now available on the church website. Go to www.sthelenscatholic.ca and click on the Bulletins and Schedules tab. Mass Intentions - Remember to request special mass intentions well in advance to reserve your date. VOCATION VIEW: Oh, that today you would hear His voice! Listening brings faith; faith brings hope. Hope brings trust; trust brings courage to follow the Lord.

Reflection How would you describe your spiritual life? Do you pray regularly or have spiritual practices like meditation? Do you have a regular routine to serve the poor? Does (could) prayer and serving make a difference for your? What is available in your parish in forms of prayer, service or education? We must allow Christ to pervade our souls to the extent that he becomes all in all; we must, according to St. Pauls beautiful expression, put on Christ (Romans 13:14), trying to be what he was, such that we truly become his disciples. The whole of Christian life is this progressive evangelization of our being, this shedding of the flesh, selfish and closed up within ourselves, this opening up to Christs teachings that we must follow. The Christian life consists in allowing the Holy Spirit to transform us gradually into Christ. The unique end of every person is to become another Christ This is not a matter of choice but the sole purpose of existence. (Jean Cardinal Danielou)
For the Ride Home by Ted Bergh ParishVision LLC 2013

For the vision still has its time, presses on to fulfillment, and will not disappoint; (Habakkuk 2:3) Oh that today you would hear his voice: Harden not your hearts... (Psalm 95) I remind you to stir into flame the gift of God that you have (2 Timothy 1:8) And the apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith." (Luke 17:5) When you have done all you have been commanded, say, 'We are unprofitable servants; we have done what we were obliged to do.'" Luke 17:10)
