Controlled LED Driver

Full Color Spectrum RGBW/RGBA
Software Control
The XRP7620 is a multi purpose 4-channel independently adjustable current sink driver. Optimized for LED backlighting and RGBW/
RGBA color mixing applications, the XRP7620 can also be used as a generic software programmable current sink I/O expander.

Support an industry standard 2-line I²C serial interface, the XRP7620 provides full independent control of each channel and can be
programmed up to a current of 31.5mA in steps of 500μA. Uniform display brightness is ensured through a better than 3% channel to
channel current matching. Five internal registers are provided to set operational configuration and individual channel current adjustment.
A specific shutdown mode allows the device to retain the previously loaded configuration – operational and current adjustment – in order
to be reused upon the next enabling.

The XRP7620 is designed to operate from a single cell lithium-ion battery or fixed 3.3V or 5.0V power rails and is available in a RoHS
compliant, “green”/halogen free space saving 8-pin 2mm x 3mm DFN package.

Inverting Controller
Wide input range, current mode, DC/DC controller
capable of generating either + or – output voltages
The LT3757 is a wide input range, current mode, DC/DC
controller which is capable of generating either positive or
negative output voltages. It can be configured as either a
boost, flyback, SEPIC or inverting converter. The LT3757
drives a low side external N-channel power MOSFET from
an internal regulated 7.2V supply. The fixed frequency,
current-mode architecture results in stable operation over
a wide range of supply and output voltages.

The operating frequency of LT3757 can be set with an

external resistor over a 100kHz to 1MHz range, and can
be synchronized to an external clock using the SYNC pin.
A low minimum operating supply voltage of 2.9V, and a
low shutdown quiescent current of less than 1μA, make
the LT3757 ideally suited for battery-operated systems.

The LT3757 features soft-start and frequency foldback

functions to limit inductor current during start-up and
output short-circuit.

The device is available in a small 10-lead DFN (3mm ×

3mm) or MSOP package.

DC-DC Power Supplies
N2Power™ Launches 125W and 160W
DC-DC Power Supplies
POWER SUPPLY DESIGN LEADER
N2Power enters the DC-DC power supply market with
comprehensive 125 watt and 160 watt families based on its
proven XL125 and XL160 AC-DC Series products. Years of
experience with these chassis translates directly to confidence
right from the start of production.

UNMATCHED POWER DENSITY

Eight XL125 DC-DC models and seven XL160 DC-DC models
deliver a range of outputs from 3.3V to 48V. Physical dimensions
of just 1.25” x 3” x 5” mean easy integration into existing
designs replacing older, less efficient products. They are also
ideally suited for new OEM designs where the small formfactor
frees up valuable “real estate” that can be reallocated to other XL160DC-DC
purposes.

Utilizing a Transconductance
Error Amplifier
NCP1608 is the newest device in the ON Semiconductor family of power factor correction (PFC) controllers. NCP1608 is specifically
designed for use as a pre-converter in ac-dc adapters, electronic ballasts, and other medium power off-line converters (typically
up to 350 W). It uses Critical Conduction Mode (CrM) to ensure near unity power factor across a wide range of input voltages and
output power. NCP1608 minimizes the number of external components by integrating safety features, making it an excellent choice
for designing robust PFC stages. Packaged in SOIC-8, the device is Pb-free and Halide-free.

LTC4266 - Quad IEEE 802.3at

P OE C ontroller
Power Over Ethernet Controller
Delivers lowest-in-industry heat dissipation,
eliminating the need for expensive heat sinks
The LTC4266 is a quad Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE)
controller designed for use in IEEE 802.3 Type 1 and
Type 2 (high power) compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE)
systems. The LTC4266 delivers lowest-in-industry heat
dissipation by utilizing low Ron external MOSFETs and
0.25Ω sense resistors, eliminating the need for expensive
heat sinks. External MOSFETs also provide a more robust
solution compared to integrated MOSFETs.

Advanced power management features include:

selectable high speed 9.5-bit (1kHz) or high resolution
14.5-bit current and voltage readback, a 7-bit DAC
for overcurrent (ICUT), a unique nonlinear 8-bit
programmable current limit (ILIM) and versatile quick
shutdown of preselected ports. PD Discovery uses a
proprietary dual-mode 4-point detection mechanism
ensuring the best immunity from false PD detection.
Midspan PSEs are supported with 2-event classification
and a two second backoff timer. Legacy high-
capacitance device detection is available. The LTC4266
includes an I2C serial interface operable up to 1MHz.

The LTC4266 is also a good choice for proprietary PoE PSE systems which may require more power than the new IEEE 802.3at
standard allows. The LTC4266 can source up to 100W (4-pair) while otherwise remaining 100% compliant with IEEE 802.3at.

Features
 Four Independent PSE Channels  Very High Reliability 4-Point PD Detection:
 Compliant with IEEE 802.3at Type 1 and 2  2-Point Forced Voltage
 0.34Ω Total Channel Resistance  2-Point Forced Current
 130mW/Port at 600mA  High Capacitance Legacy Device Detection
 Advanced Power Management  LTC4259A-1 and LTC4258 Pin and SW Compatible
 8-Bit Programmable Current Limit (ILIM)  Supports 2-Pair and 4-Pair Output Power
 7-Bit Programmable Overload Currents (ICUT)  1MHz I2C Compatible Serial Control Interface
 Fast Shutdown of Preselected Ports  Midspan Backoff Timer
 14.5-Bit Port Current/Voltage Monitoring  Supports Proprietary Very High Power Up to 100W
 2-Event Classification  Available in 38-Pin 5mm × 7mm QFN, and 36-Pin SSOP Packages

Application Notes

In order to simplify the design process, Nu Horizons has created a series of application notes designed to guide engineers through the process of
interfacing different devices together. Using a detailed step-by-step approach, these design guides identify key elements in the design process.
Topics in the application notes are organized by design task and each topic is a stand-alone section, with a short introduction or overview, followed
by the step-by-step guidelines. All steps include a sufficient level of detail to provide the designer with relevant information to proceed quickly and
easily from start to finish.
