Hydrology and Geomorphology

Southwest Hydrology: The Resource for Semi-Arid Hydrology. Southwest Hydrology, University of Arizona - SAHRA, PO Box 21015-B, Tucson, AZ 85721-0158. Southwest Hydrology, a trade magazine was created to inform and connect the water communities of the semi-arid and arid Southwest. Southwest Hydrology is written by and for consultants, regulators, researchers, water managers, lawyers, policymakers, and all the people in industry who work with water issues in semi-arid regions. Southwest Hydrology premiered in 2002, and is distributed free of charge six times per year. http://www.swhydro.arizona.edu/ Sand Gauge, 1984 by W. F. MCollough - Convenient chart for accurate and consistent determination of grain sizes. 2 x 3 plastic card has actual sand grains for sizing and roundness classification. Chart includes size classification from silt to very coarse, roundness chart, bed thickness classification, field checklist, geologic time scale, and two carbonate classification charts. ASC Scientific, 2075 Corte del Nogal, Suite T, Carlsbad, CA 92011 USA. Tel. (800) 2724327 (760) 431-2655; The RIVER Field Book is a standard 4.5 x 7 hard cover, water resistant field book. What makes this field book unique is the addition of a variety of specialty pages useful as forms for data recording, data analyses, and the measurement of channel cross-sections, longitudinal profiles, channel materials, and stream flow, all of the basic information one generally needs to measure to begin to understand a river. The book also contains 15 pages of graphs, charts, and data relationships useful when working in rivers. Examples include bankfull discharge as a function of drainage area for selected regions, a set of Rosgen stream classification diagrams, channel flow resistance data, and plotting paper for peak flow frequency, flow duration, and pebble count data. http://www.wildlandhydrology.com/html/RiverField.htm Computer program RIVERMorph is designed to streamline time consuming tasks performed by river restoration professionals. RIVERMorph aids in all aspects of river restoration including assessment, monitoring and natural channel design. The interface is linked to a database on your machine that can be shared with other users. Tools are provided for stream classification, survey data reduction and plotting, discharge gage analyses, Pfankuch channel stability analyses, bank erosion prediction, natural channel design, regime equations, regional curves and interfacing with engineering software such as HEC-2, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-55 and more! RIVERMorph also features a GIS interface to facilitate measurement of planform features. http://www.rivermorph.com/index.asp Guide for Field Identification of Bankfull Stage in the Western United States, video, 1995. Technical presenters include: Luna B. Leopold - Emeritus Professor of Geology, University of California, Berkeley, William W. Emmett - Research Hydrologist (Retired), U.S. Geological Survey, Water Resources Division; Hilton L. Silvey - Consulting Hydrologist, Western Hydrology; David L. Rosgen - Consulting Hydrologist, Wildland Hydrology Consultants. Copies of the video are available upon request from the Stream Systems Technology Center.
