3. Turn off the printer by unplugging the power cable from either the

5. Clean the copper contacts on the back of the printheads with a coffee
filter or clean, dry, lint-free cloth. The contacts are shown in red in Figure 3. 6. Clean the printhead contacts inside the printer using a coffee filter or clean, dry, lint-free cloth. See Figure 3. Figure 3: Contact area of printhead and socket

7. Latch the purple printhead cover and close all covers. There should
not be any printheads installed in the printer.

8. Remove the network or parallel interface cable from the printer.

9. Plug in the power cable. The printer should turn on. If not, turn on the printer. NOTE: Make sure you close all covers after each printhead is inserted in the following steps.

10. The message "ATTENTION: black, cyan, magenta and yellow

printheads are missing" will appear. Insert the black printhead. If a faulty printhead message appears, go to step 14, otherwise go to step 11.

11. If the black printhead is good, the message "ATTENTION: cyan,

magenta and yellow printheads are missing" will appear. Insert the

cyan printhead. If a faulty printhead message appears, go to step 14, otherwise go to step 12.

12. If the cyan printhead is good, the message "ATTENTION: magenta

and yellow printheads are missing" will appear. Insert the magenta printhead. If a faulty printhead message appears, go to step 14, otherwise continue with step 13.

13. If the magenta printhead is good, the message "ATTENTION: the

yellow printhead is missing" will appear. Insert the yellow printhead. If a faulty printhead message appears, go to step 14. 14. If a faulty printhead message appears, remove the printhead indicated in the message and clean the contacts with a soft, dry lintfree cloth. Reinstall the printhead and if the message continues to appear after cleaning the contacts, replace the printhead. If the printhead tests good after cleaning the contacts, continue testing the printheads at the step the error occurred.
