Program Manajemen Telekomunikasi UMB (MTel UMB) ditawarkan karena di sektor industri dan bisnis telekomunikasi, telekomunikasi ada kebutuhan dan tuntutan yang terus membesar akan keahlian di teknik dan skill di bisnis. Tujuan program MTel UMB adalah memberikan ilmu pengetahuan lanjut dan wawasan di telekomunikasi terapan yang terintegrasi dengan teknik-teknik manajerial bisnis yang solid. Setiap sektor industri, seperti pemerintah, regulator, service provider, financial sectors, equipment vendor, consultant, R&D, harus memiliki profil-profil profesional dengan kemampuan tersebut.
