APPLICATIONS FOR 2013/2014 INTAKE


The University of Dar es Salaam, invites applications for admission into the Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management MA (PPM). Objective of the MA (PPM) The Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management (PPM) programme offered at the University of Dar-es-Salaam in the Department of Geography, College of Arts and Social Sciences. The Programme is designed to produce competent and skilled experts and professionals capable of designing, managing and evaluating local and multilateral projects. The Programme aim to provide essential knowledge and skills on: participatory planning, project formulation, resource mobilization, project financing, project cycle management, project implementation, strategic project management, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. Commencement The programme is scheduled to commence on 18th November, 2013. Duration The MA (PPM) programme runs for 24 months. Minimum Entry Requirements i. Applicants must be holders of a Bachelor degree with a GPA of at least 2.7 of the University of Dar es Salaam or its equivalent from any other accredited University in any field of study. OR ii. For non-degree applicants to be considered for admission they should possess an Advanced Diploma (second class or higher) and a Postgraduate Diploma.

Mode of Delivery The Master of Arts in Project Planning and Management is an evening programme with 48 Units. 27 units are for core courses, 12 units for dissertation and 9 units selected from optional courses. The programme duration is 2 years (24 months), spread into 4 semesters. In each semester, students will be required to take 3 core courses and 1 optional course. The structure requires 45 contact hours per taught subject for each of the 12 courses. The minimum contact hours per day are 3, of which at least 1 hour is allocated for seminars. The MA (PPM) programme comprises of 18 months of course work and examinations and 6 months for dissertation. Note: The theoretical part of the programme is supported by well designed professional field visits, tests, and problem solving assignments and examinations. Application Deadline Completed application forms should be returned to Geography Department Room No: 302 IRA Building before 1st November, 2013. i. Application Fee: T.shs. 50,000- (non-refundable) ii. Fifty (50) USD - For non-Tanzanian (non-refundable) Tuition Fees per the Whole Programme The fees are paid in four installments. i. Tsh .2,800,000/=;2000,000; 2,000,000; and 1,700,000 for Tanzanians OR ii. $ 3,500; 2,500; 1040 and 1,000 iii. Paid in full amount of Tsh. 8,500,000 for Tanzanians and $8,040 for Non-Tanzanians. iv. Apart from the tuition fees, students are required to pay Tshs. 450,000 for Tanzanians or $ 450 for non Tanzanians for field excursion.
