So why did the image of the Great Plebian remove from the pedestal? It was believed that the statue of Bonifacio wielding his bolo has inspired the people to become aggressive and violent that town authorities decided to replace the monument with an image of the Great Malayan to remind the people of unity and peace.

Plaza Rizal (Rizal Park) in front of Zamboanga City Hall

In front of the city hall is Plaza Rizal, Where a statue of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal proudly stands. Across the street is the imposing Zamboanga City Hall. The construction of this building started in 1905 and was completed in 1907 by the Federal Government of the United States for the then American Governors of the area which included: Leonard Wood, Tasker H. Bliss, Ralph W. Hoyt, and Governor John J. Pershing of World War I fame. Today, this serves as the City Hall of Zamboanga Citywhere the Mayor holds office.

Near the St. James Church that was built in the year 1883 a Jose Rizal Monument was built located at the same spot where Dr. Jose Rizal stood every Sunday during his exile from 1892 to 1896.

In Olongapo city, the land where Rizal's monument stands has a triangular shape thereby bearing the name Rizal Triangle Park instead of the usual Rizal Park. Residents simply refer to it as Triangle, for short. Viewed from the top, the lot looks like a pointed wedge, devoid of a vast landscape like the Rizal Park in Manila offers. Its smallest angle is bounded by Rizal Avenue and Arthur street; opposite that angle is the third leg, west 22nd Place.

This monument-cum-park ideally located at downtown Naga was built in honor of the national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal. This is known locally as the center for public debates and discussions, family picnic gatherings and public recreation and relaxation spot.

At the park, the statue of Jose Rizal was erected in 1957 by the Ilocos Norte Teachers Club with the cooperation of civic spirited citizens of the Province of Ilocos Norte. The park was restored/renovated under the administration of Hon. Gov. Atty. Rodolfo C. Farias wherein a playground, a swimming pool, a picnic ground and a mini?zoo are found.
