Omori 52mm Mechanical Boost Gauge Install Instructions for 02/03/04 Subaru WRX.

1. Ensure all parts are present. A) Gauge. B) Hose C) 3-Way T 2. Extra Parts/Tools needed: Wire ties, 2 of each Butt/Tap Connectors. About 1 of 14Gauge wire.

This install guide is aimed at the user who wishes to install this gauge on the steering column cover. If you want to install this gauge in a pod see the footnote at the bottom of this guide. Also if you dont want to use illumination also see the footer of this document. Illumination will not work with the electrical gauges that are not full color. Illumination only functions with mechanical and full color gauges.

1..First remove the lower column cover just behind and under the steering wheel by removing the 1 goldish screw at the bottom of the cover. The lower cover will then easily remove by pulling downward and detaching from the upper cover with a little force. Then you will notice 2 screws holding the upper column cover on. Remove these two screws. Leave the upper cover in place for a moment. 2..Next remove the gauge cluster bezel by unscrewing the 2 black screws at the top of the bezel above the gauge cluster facing toward the ground. You can now use a little force to remove the bezel. Should remove easily. 3..Next remove the cluster itself with the following 3 screws;

After these 3 screws are removed, pull on the cluster until it clears the dashboard, and then unplug the 3 green connectors on top of the cluster. You will have to move the cluster around at weird angles to remove it and clear the steering wheel. Be creative, itll come out no problem.

4.. Next you are going to need 2 pieces of 14-16gauge wire about 9 long and 2 TAP and 2 Butt connectors. See following picture;

You want to locate the i10 connector, its easily identified in white diagram above. A8 Violet color and A9 Orange/White . These are going to be your positive and negative for Illumination respectively. You want to use the two pieces of wire and the tap connectors, tap the cluster wires about 4 away from the cluster connectors. Now get your gauge and use the Butt connectors, connect white wire to violet A8 and black wire to A9 Orange/White. Check your lights now before proceeding. Dimming your interior lights up and down and the gauge should do the same. See the following picure;

5..Next is mounting the gauge to the column cover. This will not be covered here since there are different types of cups available and the hardware may be different. Get your cup attached to the column cover and put the gauge in the cup. Run the wires/hose to the right of the cluster. Run the hose downward towards the pedals. Always use wire ties everywhere;

6. Locate the following grommet behind brake pedal. Cut just under inch slit in center of it. Run the hose through the grommet and then the firewall hole and replace grommet and carpet cover.

7. Get 3-Way T-Connector. Ensure that brass pill restrictor is going toward the gauge. If you lose or didnt get this piece dont worry the gauge will still work fine, however may act a little erratic.

8. Locate the hose under the throttle cable (Intake Manifold hose) get the gauge hose from the firewall and route it long enough to reach the following location. Be sure to route it safely not near any moving belts, heat, etc take hose from intake manifold that goes to check valve, take off end that connects to the beige check valve. Insert T between intake manifold and this check valve.

9.. 20 In/hg is good for idle. Drive around stock you should be around 14PSI 3rd WOT.

FOOTER. To install in center dash pod you can also use illumination. By tapping into the hazard switch find the Violet and Orange/White colored wires and follow the instructions for tapping earlier in this document. You can also get positive unchanging power here using the Green/White wire on the hazard switch for Ignition 12v positive And the Black/Green wire as ground also on the hazard switch. If you wish to use a column cover mount without illumination/dimmer use A7 For positive and A6 for grounding. Use the diagram found earlier in this document for locations.
