@ArveeRobinson
Use a lot of stories in your speech. Stories act like invisible selling. Use 4 stories: personal, success, lesson & emotional.

Georgia Toastmasters Fall Conference: November 1-2, 2013, MaconSpeech Evaluations Quote of the Month Many people can go all their lives without the risk of having to give a talk in public, but often at a cost. The talented singer never sings, the born teacher never teaches. The salesman never becomes a sales supervisor because he would be expected to speak before groups. In its most extreme, fear of public speaking may lead parents to avoid PTA meetings or Sunday school. They might be called upon to say something. Phobia: the Facts by Donald Goodwin; page 45. Group Evaluation Technique: each member gives brief comments. PIE method:
1. Praise 2. Instruct 3. Encourage

Public Speaking Tip: When speaking, always stand in the rooted position, feet should length apart. This will keep you from swaying.

@Toastmasters
Toastmasters Tip: Conclude your speech with impact! Use a quote, ask a question, summarize your speech, or emphasize your call to action.

Negotiation Tips: 7 Things Never to Say When Asking for a Raise by Aaron Gouveia 7. I am buying a house. Not relevant to your work performance. 6. I am having a baby. Focus on your work achievements. 5. I cant pay my bills. Negotiate from a position of strength. 4. I always show up for work on time. Youre supposed to do that. 3. I ve never asked for a raise before. Implies your boss is unfair. 2. Ive worked here for ___ years. So what?

Contestants left to right: Benjamin Paratore, Jammie Wilbanks, Larry Kearson, Tanika Christopher, and Alexandra Arzayus Congrats to Larry Kearson from our Okefenokee Toastmasters Club! He placed third at a Georgia Toastmasters Evaluation Contest held at the Wiregrass Technical College on Saturday. There was a target speaker, Margo Thomas, at the event who delivered an inspirational speech about pursuing one's dreams despite the fears. There were five contestants evaluating her speech, that is, analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the presentation and suggesting ways to make the inspirational message more effective. The winner was Tanika Cristopher from Titletown Toastmasters in Valdosta. Second place went to Jammie Wilbanks from Technically Speaking Toastmasters club. Rodney Hooks did us proud in the humorous speech section of the contest. Congrats to the humorous speech winner, Jason Richardson, also from Titletown Toastmasters.

1. My coworkers make more than I do. Sounds too whiny/immature.
