Dear Parishioners, Feast of Our Lady of Fatima This week from Oct 16th to the 20th we will Celebrate our lady of Fatima festival organized by the Portugese community at our parish. Once again in this month of October dedicated to Holy Rosary, we have an opportunity to honor and venerate our blessed mother under the title of Our Lady of Fatima. She is venerated under this title following apparitions to three shepherd children Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco in Portugal in 1917. The message of Fatima includes a call to conversion of heart, repentance from sin and a dedication to praying the Rosary. On Oct. 13, 1917, at Cova da Iria, Mary appeared for the sixth and last time to these shepherd children. During the apparition, the sun changed color, size and position for about 10 minutes, and it has since been known as the Miracle of the Sun. Every Festival of Mary is an invitation and a reminder to us that, the easy path to Jesus is through Mary. May this Festival of Our Lady of Fatima enable us to come closer to Jesus, through conversion of our hearts, repentance from our sins, and by praying the Rosary. We pray for Gods many blessings up on all those who are responsible for the organization and success of this Festival. May God bless you and your families through the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima. World Mission Sunday World Mission Sunday is observed on October 20, 2013. It is a day set aside for the Catholic Church throughout the world to publicly renew our commitment to the Church's missionary activity through prayer and sacrifice. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of October every year. It was created by Pope Pius XI in 1926 as the day of prayer and propaganda of missions. Jesus was a missionary. As the Word of God, he is the light of all nations. As the Word made flesh, he brought God's own life into our midst. Before returning to the Father, he sent the Church to continue the mission given him by the Father and empowered her with his Spirit: "As the Father has sent me, so I send you" (Jn 20:21). The Church, therefore, is missionary by her very nature. She continues the mission of the Son and the mission of the Holy Spirit by proclaiming to the ends of the earth the salvation Christ offers those who believe in him. We are faithful to the nature of the Church to the degree that we love and sincerely promote her missionary activity. If Jesus was a missionary and if church by her very nature is missionary, in what way am I a missionary? What sacrifices do I make to support and promote the mission of the church?

Queridos feligreses, Fiesta en honor a Nuestra Seora de Ftima Esta semana del 16 al 20 de octubre Celebraremos la Fiesta a Nuestra Seora de Ftima organizada por la comunidad Portuguesa en nuestra parroquia. Otra vez en este mes de octubre dedicado al Santo Rosario, tenemos una oportunidad de honrar y venerar a nuestra bendita madre con el ttulo de Nuestra Seora de Ftima. Es venerada bajo este ttulo tras apariciones en Portugal a tres pastorcitos: Luca, Jacinta y Francisco, en 1917 El mensaje de Ftima incluye un llamado a la conversin del corazn, el arrepentimiento de nuestros pecados y dedicacin para rezar el Rosario. El 13 de octubre de 1917, en Cova da Iria, Mara se le apareci por sexta y ltima vez a los pastorcitos. Durante la aparicin, el sol cambi de color, tamao y posicin durante unos 10 minutos, y desde entonces ha sido conocido como el "milagro del sol. Cada Festival de Mara es una invitacin y un recordatorio para nosotros, que el camino fcil a Jess es por medio de Mara. Que la fiesta de nuestra seora de Ftima nos permita acercarnos a Jess, a travs de la conversin de nuestros corazones, arrepentimiento de nuestros pecados y rezando el Rosario. Oramos a Dios para que bendiga a todos aquellos que son responsables de la organizacin y el xito de este Festival. Que Dios los bendiga a ustedes y a sus familias a travs de la intercesin de Nuestra Seora de Ftima. Jornada Mundial de las Misiones La Jornada Mundial de las misiones se celebra el 20 de octubre de 2013. Es un da reservado para la Iglesia Catlica en todo el mundo a renovar pblicamente nuestro compromiso a la actividad misionera de la Iglesia a travs de la oracin y el sacrificio. Se celebra el tercer domingo de octubre de cada ao. Fue creada por el Papa Po XI en el ao 1926 como el da de la oracin y la propaganda de las misiones. Jess fue un misionero. Como la Palabra de Dios, l es la luz de todas las naciones. Como el Verbo hecho carne trajo a la vida de Dios en nuestro medio. Antes de volver al padre, fue enviado a la iglesia a continuar la misin que le fue dada por el padre y la Facultad con su espritu: Como el padre me ha enviado, as yo te envo (Jn 20:21). Por lo tanto, la iglesia, es misionera por su misma naturaleza. Contina la misin del hijo y la misin del Espritu Santo al proclamar a los confines de la tierra la salvacin que Cristo ofrece a aquellos que creen en l. Somos fieles a la naturaleza de la iglesia en la medida en que amamos y sinceramente promovemos su actividad misionera. Si Jess fue un misionero y la iglesia por su propia naturaleza es misionera, de qu manera soy un misionero? Qu sacrificios hago para apoyar y promover la misin de la iglesia?
