Reflection No. 3

1. Creativity should be considered in project-making. It is an expression of the emotions of the learners; at the same time it serves as a substitute outlet for those who cannot express their intellect through words or numbers. For example, Giann is neither an essayist nor a mathematician in the class, but he is the artist who does extraordinary masterpieces in the field of arts. If creativity will not be considered for the reason that it varies among individuals, then it will be discriminating against him who excels in this criteria. If writing skill is graded based from grammatical composition and fluidity of thoughts having the same basis for everyone, then it is justified that creativity is the basis for project-making. If one of these bases shall be unjustly graded due to individual differences, then it is also fair that the others will not be. The main reason why a subject is subdivided into different components for grade-making is to allow each student to excel in the criteria fit for his personality. 2. Budget and time should be considered in project-making, but this should be on the part of the teacher upon the planning stage and not on the learners after the procedure has been given. For the part of the teachers, budget should be considered because in todays age of rough economic progress, it is difficult to add more expenses to a familys income, generally speaking. If the project will add burden to a familys budget, there is a tendency that it will not be done by the student, and the objective will not be achieved. During the planning stage the teacher must conceptualize a project that can jive with the economic status of the learners, or at least, an economical alternative should be offered like the use of recycled materials. Similar with budget, time is also an important component that a teacher should consider in project planning. It must be sufficient enough for the project to be done with effort. Without the proper time allotment, the tendency is that the student will submit a hurriedly-done project or an unfinished task. On the other hand, after the procedure plan has been discussed, budget and time should not be considered. In the case of budget, if the teacher has ensured that the project has an economical alternative, and the student still complains (perhaps due to a personal motive like laziness), then it should not be considered by the teacher, as he has done his part of offering an option to those with financial problems. It is the same case with time, if theres already a sufficient time allotment, and then the reason of not having enough should be invalid. Time should be considered in giving deductions however, as it is just to give minus to those who submitted late. 3. Project-making involves a lot of criteria, and there are a lot of considerations to be done in order to arrive at a perfect project plan/procedure. In making a project it is always a must that it should be an application of the topics learned. Creativity is a must in making a project and the teacher must constantly remind the students to submit their outputs on time. Budget and time must be involved in the planning stage of the teacher, so that the student will not use such as alibis for late submission or not submitting at all. In projectmaking it is also a must for the teacher to strictly comply with his policies, or else its purpose shall not be achieved.
