NATIONAL/INTERNATIONAL SEMINAR-WORKSHOPS OF THE INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH LEARNERS TRAINING INSTITUTE, INC. (IELTI)
The International English Learners Training Institute, Inc. (IELTI) announces the conduct of the following National/International Seminar-Workshops at the Hotel Supreme Convention Plaza, Magsaysay Avenue, Baguio City:
Activity National Seminar on Teaching Literature Theme: Best Practices in Teaching Poetry, Fiction and Drama National Seminar on Broadcast Journalism and School Paper Production Theme: Preparing Winning School Papers and Training TeacherAdvisers and Student-Writers in Competititions National Seminar-Workshop on Best Practices in Teaching English as a Second Language and as a Foreign Language Theme: Tailoring Best Practices to Fit Learners Needs Date July 6-8, 2013 Aim Discuss issues in teaching poetry, fiction and drama Design and demonstrate various strategies in teaching poetry, fiction and drama Explore variety of texts and perspectives Strengthen participants knowledge of journalistic writing and broadcast journalism Enhance their skills in journalistic writing, creative writing and broadcast journalism Improve their ability to guide student-writers and editors through the stages of school paper production Discuss with the participants issues, techniques and principles in teaching English as a second language and as a foreign language Guide them in designing tasks which promote English language learning Inform them on the factors which may lead to language learning difficulties Help them prepare assessment tools which measure learning Discuss issues related to the teaching of grammar, speaking, reading and writing Present to them the effective strategies in teaching grammar, speaking, reading and writing Guide them in preparing valid assessment of their students grammar, speaking, reading and writing skills Enable the participants to gain exposure to the state-of-the-art language research designs Present critical review of papers and draw insights from them Discuss with them varied topics, research questions, design and data-gathering tools for language research writing Inform the participants on the learning theories which are necessary to materials development Develop their ability to formulate and apply principled criteria for the evaluation and adaption of learning materials Enhance their expertise in creating task-based activities which are useful in designing learning modules Clarify the participants notions of evaluation, assessment and testing and their place in the teaching-learning cycle Explain to them the purpose of different types of assessment Guide them in constructing their own tests following the principles of validity and reliability
