Expansion Stress Code requirements of max. Allowable safe limit i.e.75% is to be fulfilled. Expansion Stresses >75% shall be highlighted in stress isometrics.

7.3

Equipment Nozzle Loading Equipment nozzles, at the nozzle shell interface (welding point), are to be assessed at design temperature as per Clause no.5.0.10 of Doc No. 6867-00-16-43-SP06 REV 0 (Page 8 of 24). Nozzle allowable shall be based on the nominal diameter of the nozzle as listed on the vendor drawing for that particular nozzle. If e.g. a 12 nozzle is thickened at the nozzle-shell interface to 14, the nozzle allowable is to be based on 12, unless agreed with the equipment vendor/Mechanical department. If loads exceed the above mentioned criteria these loads have to be transmitted to Mechanical Department. Nozzle Pro calculations (nozzle flexibility) can be made by the Stress Engineer, however approval from Mechanical Department remains required. For all static & Rotating equipments, the nozzle shall be checked at both design and normal operating temperatures. The actual nozzle loads shall be compared against allowable nozzle loads and shall be qualified to suitable load cases.

7.4

Flange Loading Flange stresses shall fulfil the requirements of ASME VIII Div I, App.2, taking the corrosion allowance into consideration. Flange allowable stress multiplier shall be taken as 1.0 (a factor 1.5 is not part of ASME VIII Div I, App.2, but only applicable for flange calculation in accordance with ASME B31.1). Bolt allowable stress multiplier shall be 1.0. Additional to the flange load check, a leakage check shall be performed as per Clause no.2.7.3 of EDB Doc No. 6867-00-16-43-DB-01 REV B (Page 20 of 41). It is recommended that determining the maximum loads on a flange, per size and pipe class

and using the result for checking the actual flange loads.

7.5

Trunnions Loads on trunnions shall be evaluated. Refer Appendix F for sample spreadsheet. Trunnions should be checked for sustained, expansion and occasional loads. For checking occasional loads, hot allowable can be increased by 20 %. Trunnion lengths shall be taken as per Clause no.2.7.1 of EDB Doc No. 6867-00-1643-DB-01 REV B (Page 18 of 41). To qualify trunnions (sequence in order of preference): 1. 2. 3. 4. Reduce trunnion length. Increase trunnion size (same size as run pipe is not applicable). Increase wall thickness of trunnion. Provide reinforcing pad of thickness same as of run pipe.

It is recommended to determining the maximum loads on a trunnion per size and using the result for checking the actual trunnion loads. 7.6 Displacements Displacements shall be identified in the following cases o Rack Piping Axial displacements > 75 mm and lateral displacements > 50 mm shall be marked on the stress isometric. o Vertical lines Vertical displacements > 50 mm shall be marked on the stress isometric. o Deflection limits shall be taken care as per Clause no.5.0.10 (vii) of Doc No. 6867-00-16-43-SP06 REV 0 (Page 10 of 24). 7.7 Friction Factor The factors/limits shall be considered in the stress analysis as per Clause no.5.0.10 (vii) of Doc No.6867-00-16-43-SP06-REV 0 (Page 10 of 24). 7.8 Re-Analysis In case of lay-out changes, the responsible stress engineer evaluates the changes and decides to revise the analysis or to hand approve the change.

7.9

Reanalysis is not recommended for minor changes in pipe routing, however reanalysis will be required for major changes and the documents will be issued in next revision for PMC approval indicating changes made in the report. Piping Supports Piping supports shall be taken care as per Clause no.5.0.11 of Doc No.6867-00-16-43-

SP06REV 0 (Page 8.

12 of 24).

DOCUMENTATION Final flexibility analysis reports of piping shall be submitted as per Clause no.5.0.10 of Doc No.6867-00-16-43-SP06-REV 0 (Page 12 of 24).
