History of Redemption 5 (The Forgotten Encounter-1)

The fulfillment of the covenant of the torch (Genesis 15:13-16)

(1) Why is it forgotten encounter?
Lost the state where you have lost something that you possessed before and now you do not have it. Forgot if you could only __remember__ you can find it back (Psalm 50:22) (2) How should we consider? Through _the Word of God___(John 5:25, John 6:63, Hosea 14:2)

1. Why is it the covenant of the torch?

(1) When God was making the covenant with Abraham a burning torch passed between pieces of meat. (Genesis 15:17) (2) What is the meaning of this? It is a declaration that God will surely accomplish this covenant. When making a covenant, cutting meat in half and passing between pieces means that parties are making the covenant at the risk of their lives.(Jeremiah 34:18-21) Fire means Gods presence . (Isaiah 10:17, 62:1)

(3) What is the content of the covenant of the torch? Abrahams descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. And afterward they shall come out with great possessions. (Genesis 15:13-14) Abraham shall go to his fathers in peace and he shall be buried at a good old age. (Genesis 15:15) In the fourth generation they shall return to the land of Canaan. (Genesis 15:16) Promise regarding the boundaries of the land of Canaan from the river of Egypt to the great river, the River Euphrates (Genesis 15:18-21) Therefore, the covenant of the torch is a covenant that is not yet fulfilled . (Psalm 106:24) Then they despised the pleasant land; They did not believe His word,

2. Is 4 generations 400 years?

Genesis 15:13 and they will afflict them four hundred years. Genesis 15:16 But in the fourth generation they shall return here

(1) Until this day, globally, all theologians and ministers and pastors taught 400 years is 4 generations. Ex.>Rev. Cho, Yong Ki, Rev. Suk, Won Tae, Prof. Kim, Eui-Won, Henry M. Morris, Chuck Smith, Keil Delitzsch, etc (2) However, 400 years can never be 4 generations. We must examine how many years is one generation when God made the covenant with Abraham. At that time, one generation was about 30 years. (35, 30, 34, 30, 32, 30, 29)

Job was a contemporary of Abraham. 140 years was 4 generations. (Job 42:16) After this Job lived one hundred and forty years, and saw his children and grandchildren for four generations.

3. Who are four generations after Abraham?

If Abraham is 1st generation, Isaac the 2nd, Jacob the 3rd, then who is the 4th? Among 12 sons of Jacob it is (1)Because Joseph is the Joseph .

spiritual firstborn . (1 Chronicles 5:1-2)

(2)Because Joseph is the one whose faith was acknowledged by God. (4 generations means 4 generations of faith) (Hebrews 11:9, 19, 20, 21, 22) by faith

4. How was the covenant fulfilled by Joseph?

(1)It was fulfilled by Josephs will. (Genesis 50:24-25) Although Joseph died before Israel went into Canaan, by faith Joseph already entered the land of Canaan alive. Even death could not prevent Joseph from entering Canaan. The concomitant feature of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is that they believed the word of the covenant that they will return to Canaan (land of the living). (Genesis 15:16 Genesis 28:4, Genesis 48:21Genesis 50:24) If Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are the living, then Joseph, too, is a living man. (Luke 20:37-38) (2)It was fulfilled by burying Josephs skeleton in Shechem. (Joshua 24:32) It was fulfilled in ----692 years since the ratification of the covenant of the torch(B.C. 2082). 692 years =16 years +60years + 130 years + 430 years + 40 years + 16 years

After Joseph said his will it was fulfilled in 416 years. (360 years + 40 years in wilderness + battle of Canaan 16 years)

Conclusively, we, too, must have our bones buried in Shechem.

shoulder, to carry burdens (Psalm 55:22, Psalm 68:19) to wake up early in the morning (Revelation 22:16)
