Laboratory Exercise 1B

H. Open a WORD software in your computer, create a copy of what you see on the screen and identify by labeling the following:

I.Click each item in the menu bar and identify the submenu and describe each function 1. New- lets you open another document in Microsoft word 2. Open- enables you to open another microsoft document

3. Save- saves the document immediately letting you choose where you would put the file 4. Save As- gives you options on where you would put the document or on what type it would be 4.a Word Document- save the document in default file format 4.b Word Template- save document as a template that can be used for future documents 4.c Word 97-2003 Document- save a copy of a document that is compatible with Word 972003 4.d Find Add ins for other file formats- save to other formats such as PDS or XPS 4.e Other Formats- open the save as dialog box to select from all possible file types 5. Print- enables the user to select on where to print and other printing options 5.a Print- Select a printer, # of copies and other printing options before printing 5.b Quick Print- set the document immediately to default printing 5. c Print Preview- preview and make changes to document before printing 6. Prepare- prepare the document fo disttibution 7. Send- Send a copy of the document to other people may it be an e-mail or through fax 8. Publish- distribute the document to other people, on a blog, Document Management Server or Document Workspace 9. Close- closes the Microsoft Word program

J. Click each item in the toolbar. Identify and describe each function Clipboard 1. Paste- Paste the contents of the clipboard

2. Cut- Cut the selection from the document and put it in the clipboard 3. Copy- copy the selection and put it in the clipboard 4. Format Painter- Copy formatting from one place and apply it to another Font 1. Font- change the font style

2. Font size- change the font size 3. Grow font- increase the font size

4. Shrink font- decrease the font size 5. Clear Formatting- clear all formatting from the selection, leaving only th eplain text 6. Bold- make the selected text bold 7. Italic-italicize the selected text 8. Underline- underline the selected text 9. Strikethrough- draw a line through the middle of the selected text 10. Subscript- create small letters below the text baseline 11. Superscript- create small letters above the line text 12. Change case- change all selected case to uppercase, lower case or other common capitaizations 13. Text Highlight Color- highlights text 14. Font color- change the text color

Paragraph 1. Bullets- start a bulleted list

2. Numbering- start a numbered list 3. Multilevel list- start a multilevel list 4. Decrease indent- decreases the indent level of the paragraph 5. Increase indent- increase the indent level of the paragraph 6. Sort- alphabetize the selected text 7. Show/Hide- show paragraph marks and other hiden formatting symbols 8. Align text left- align text to left 9. Align text right- align text to right 10. Center- center text 11. Justify- align text to both left and right 12. Shading- color the background behind text 13. Bottom border- shows borders

Styles- shows the different styles, fonts and colors used in the document Editing- used for editing documents 1. Find- find text in document

2. Replace- replace text in document 3. Select- select text or object in the document
