I AM ANGRY, ARE YOU?

My friend was presenting a topic at the youth business meeting and

before the event begins he called me and said ‘do you know I have

not prepared what to say but I know that I am angry.’ Now why is he

angry? …Because things are not moving among the youths as a result

of our inability to also to move. Things don’t naturally move you move

them.

Moving is not that easy when there is no drive and drive don’t just

come without reorientation and reorientation is the product of

meaningful thinking, and you can’t think right when you don’t read

right, when you read the right book you will discover the right thing.

Now acting upon your discovery will be the product of your

greatness.

Let us examine some of the words in the second paragraph and

quickly analyze them:

DRIVE

According to the Longman dictionary drive is, ’to strongly influence

someone to do something.’ The drive of any child of God is his or her

purpose. Just as success is a daily thing according to John Maxwell

so also is purpose fulfillment an everyday thing. “Show me a

confused man and I will show you a man without a focus and

direction”
While growing I lived all my life following friends and never could

make a decision for my life. At a point, the whole thing seems too

complicated and it looks like the whole world was crumbling on me in

a lonely and dark atmosphere but the day I met Jesus was the day I

got a focus, I was filled with dreams and vision, the grace for

creativity was released upon my life and I begin to give birth to

destiny day by day.

It is not enough to meet Jesus; it is expedient that you have a love

relationship with Him. It is in the place of fellowship that you get

secrets of your greatness from him. As a growing child of God about

6 years ago I came across Psalm 25 vs. 15 ‘the secret of the Lord is

with those who fear Him; He will shew them His covenant’ hence I

purpose in my heart that He will help me to fear Him. When God

show you His covenant, you cannot but have a new name and it is the

new name that cause Jabez (1Chr4:9)to become more honorable than

his brethren. Fellowship comes from consistent study of the word of

God, fire brand prayer life, evangelism (meeting God’s need), and

living in the fear of God.

REORIENTATION

Encarta Dictionary describes orientation in terms of learning as the

direction in which somebody’s thought interest or tendencies lie.

When some people gave their life to Jesus some decades ago, they

thought Jesus was going to come and so they just manage through

life and could not enjoy the benefit of an heir through ignorance.

That was just an example because there are so many thinking that

need to change. The bible told us that the children of this world are

wise in their generation and so we are expected to be wise as a

serpent when they prove to be smart.

Let me quickly tell you a jot out of my story and bring out two

lessons. I was doing well in my Junior class but I begin to struggle in

my senior class because I flock with friends to the Science class-

thinking my good result was too much for the Social Science or an

Art class in my school then, forgetting that I wasn’t good in

Mathematics. I managed to finish the senior class and sat for not

less than 12 external examination seeking Physics, Chemistry and

Mathematics where I did not keep them and WAEC too knows how to

rain drop what you need. I was frustrated but I have made up my

mind to be a graduate.

One day I stumble on one of Pastor Mathew Ashimolowo’s book on my

brothers shelve, then I was yet to understand the power of reading

and so I haven’t started developing my own library. The book was

titled the 24 Hours Miracle. From that book I got two discoveries;

one, I realize failure is a way of doing it better and two that when
you fail it is the event that fail. In the cause of time I came across

one of Bishop David Oyedepo’s message and he clearly explain that

you keep failing because you keep doing the same thing same way.

Two, in the rule of management, no one is as stupid as the manager

who kept doing the same thing and expects a better result. Do you

want a better result this time? Try doing things differently, change

your orientation because success is not meant for some particular

set of people, it is just the product of their possibility thinking, stop

being angry at yourself.

The two major lessons among others that I learnt in those periods

was (1) failure is a way of doing it better and (2) do not waste time

while waiting for what you want- be busy with whatsoever your hand

finds to do. I learnt bead making before I got an admission and I

was a blessing to some of my indigent student friends around me

from the money I was making on the bead.

Reorientation is the ability to erase your initial principle formally

learnt and embrace the new one which could make you wise and be a

better person. It is an act of changing the way you think. It’s indeed

a mind renewal process.

MEANINGFUL THINKING
Whoever that will amount to anything in life must wisely engage his

or her mind in tangible exploit. What you watch, what you hear and

what you read and act upon is the determinant of your brain

functional level. You can’t probably think and act beyond what you

know.

READTHE RIGHT THING

your brain has enormous memory capacity, so use it and fill it with

the word of God. Stop buying ephemerals: buy books, messages and

spiritual songs. Don’t be at the middle, ‘a man of destiny cannot

afford it doesn’t matter life.’ Remember Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy

heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

If you can prayerfully walk in the renewal of your mind then you are

not far from success. There shall be manifestation of God’s glory in

your life and my friend will no longer be angry and God will also be

pleased.
