PRODUCT INTRODUCTION/MARKET POSITIONING/DISCUSSION APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite is a new application providing state-of-theart, Web based access to InfoCenter Suites Report Manager and Utility Cost Manager applications. Specifically, users can run, schedule and review all report templates available in these applications and explicitly review databases for audit trail information. As part of the APOGEE GO group of applications, APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite will allow users access to specific InfoCenter Suite information via the Intranet, Internet or Extranet using a standard Web browser. APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite is browser and operating system independent and supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher and Netscape Navigator 6.0 or higher. APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite requires InfoCenter Suite 1.3 and uses Microsofts Internet Information Server (IIS) Web server software and Active Server Page (ASP) technology, eliminating the need for users to create HTML pages or programming. Besides desiring state-of the-art technology and a more cost-effective method for providing access to InfoCenter Suite information for various users in a facility, APOGEE GO provides many other benefits for facilities. From a facility Intranet, many users want to be able to access InfoCenter Suite from a Web browser on a workstation that does not have InfoCenter Suite installed. Today, customers have to install an InfoCenter Suite client application on every machine even if they want to use it just for report viewing. This means they have to have PCs with specific hardware and software requirements. It also means someone has to visit each client machine anytime they upgrade the InfoCenter Suite client software to a new revision or need to install a patch. APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite allows them easy access to critical compliance reporting or utility management information from virtually any networked PC in the facility, while only requiring a software upgrade on the server. Through an Internet, Remote Access Server (RAS) connection, or Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection, customers are also able to access their InfoCenter Suite system using a Web browser from home. APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite is a separate product from APOGEE GO for Insight and there are no interdependencies. The Insight database server drives APOGEE GO for Insight and InfoCenter server drives APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite. However, end users that have APOGEE GO for Insight, APOGEE GO for Animal Facility Reports and APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite can use their browsers as a single point of entry to navigate to these applications. This is analogous to accessing several links on one Web page and being redirected to different Web sites on the Internet. All APOGEE GO

applications can share the same Microsoft IIS software and reside on the same server hardware.
It is imperative to include the customers IS/IT department in preliminary discussions about running APOGEE GO products across an existing facility Intranet, or accessing APOGEE GO products via the Internet. One key detail is that it is unlikely that a facilitys IT/IS department would allow any access via the Internet to a PC on the facility Intranet that was not controlled and managed by the IT/IS department.

Connection Options There are three ways for Web browsers to connect to the APOGEE GO site, which is running on the IIS computer. Web browsers can run on a computer with either:

A direct Ethernet connection to an Intranet (see point 1) An Internet Service provider (ISP) connection to the Internet (see point 2) A Remote Access service (RAS) connection to an Intranet (see point 3)

Following is a table that discusses the system architecture and suggested steps to implement APOGEE GO on a customer site. The initial steps are to determine if the customer is looking for access to APOGEE GO via an Intranet, Internet, VPN or RAS connection. Note there are significant expenses and implementation issues in accessing APOGEE GO via the Internet.

Existing Architecture 1. Standalone InfoCenter Suite client/server installation no connection to the facility Intranet.

COMPETITIVE ANALYSIS Refer to the Competitive Comparison pages within iKnow (Beacon for International and Independent Field Offices).

SALES STRATEGIES New Systems Many specifications for new facilities include a requirement for Web-based access to the Building Automation System and in many cases that also includes the InfoCenter Suite option. InfoCenter Suite is designed to make the transfer of information from the Building Automation System to key stakeholders such as researchers, energy managers, and quality managers. A browser-based option for these individuals will significantly reduce labor and support costs associated with installing a thin client application such as Report Manager throughout an enterprise system. IS/IT departments are also more supportive of browser access when compared to placing unique software on a corporate desktop. APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite offers a competitive advantage over other historian systems in the market by providing secure browser access to key functions. This is a key advantage over Johnson Controls Facility Explorer and Andovers solution with Stelex. When customers are interested in energy monitoring and sub-metering solutions, competitive systems generally offer a Web-based interface. By using APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite, you can provide a complete energy sub-metering solution with Web-based access to utility data. Other considerations for new system sales are the requirement for Internet access. If Internet access is required, it is important to qualify in your bid that the Owner shall provide any connections, ISP services, as well as necessary firewall software and/or hardware or proxy servers. The specification for Intranet/Internet access should also qualify the number of users able to access the BAS via a browser concurrently and this requirement should match the number of InfoCenter Suite licenses. Existing Customer The availability of Web Browser support with the release of InfoCenter Suite 1.3 makes it a good time to move your customers to the latest version of InfoCenter Suite. Keeping current with the latest InfoCenter Suite revisions allows customers to take advantage of the newest options available with InfoCenter Suite, including APOGEE GO. It also allows them to remain current with Operating Systems and the Microsoft SQL Server Database engine. Existing Utility Cost Manager customers can keep their systems state-of- the art by access key system functions using the APOGEE GO technologies. This allows users to more effectively access information and disseminate it to key individuals in the organization.

SALES TOOLS
The following sales tools are available now or will be in the near future: APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite Specification Sheet is available on iKnow. A PowerPoint presentation including screen captures of the APOGEE GO interface is available on iKnow. An APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite system is set up in Buffalo Grove to facilitate customer demonstrations. Access will be via the corporate Intranet and requires a valid Americas user name and password, or through Beacon with a valid user name and password.

TRAINING There is no specific training course available for APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite because the core functions (report generation and scheduling) are no different from those available in existing InfoCenter Suite products. However, APOGEE GO provides these functions via a different client interface, and understanding Web servers and browser access is important to a successful APOGEE GO installation. To meet this need there is a 3-day Operations training course has for APOGEE GO. The focus of the course is APOGEE GO for Insight, however key aspects of IIS and Windows NT 4.0/2000 are covered, which can be applied to APOGEE GO for InfoCenter Suite. Course INS 405, Insight Options - APOGEE GO, will cover the following:

Identify system requirements for APOGEE GO, Insight Database Server, and Internet Information server (IIS) in various configurations Installation of APOGEE GO on each of the following operating systems: Windows NT 4.0 Windows 2000 Installation of Designer 9, Insight 3.4, and APOGEE GO for Insight Database Server and IIS Enabling of the Sentinel LM license Setup of Virtual directory, Authentication Methods Discussion of Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Creation of Insight User accounts and groups, and access levels
