“Prostate Cancer”

Specific purpose : To inform my audience about the disease of prostate cancer.

Central Idea : Knowing about prostate cancer is to know the symptoms,


diagnosis, treatments needed and the preventive methods.

III. To emphasize that prostate cancer is one of the major diseases affecting the
males’ health.
IV. The symptoms, diagnosis, treatment needed and the preventive methods of
prostate cancer.

Body
I. Symptoms of prostate cancer.

-Refer to slide and explain each of the symptoms

A. These include frequent urination, increased urination at night, difficulty


starting and maintaining a steady stream of urine, blood in the urine and
also pain during urination process.
B. Achieving erection or painful ejaculation.
C. Having bone pain
D. Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH),
(Transition: Now that you have already known the several symptoms of prostate cancer,
you will listen to the diagnosis or screening of prostate cancer.)

II. Methods of diagnosing


A. Digital rectal examination.
B. Prostate specific antigen.
C. If the screening test confirms its prostate cancer a biopsy will be done.

III. Treatment of prostate


A. Watchful waiting, Surgery, (radical prostatectomy), removing the prostate.
B. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU).
C. Chemotherapy.
D. Cryosurgery.
E. Hormonal therapy giving certain hormones to keep prostate cancer cells
from growing.

IV. Preventive methods


A. Avoid smoking.
B. Maintain a healthy diet.
C. Stay physically active.
D. See your doctor regularly.
E. Researchers are studying the possibility that vitamins D and E, selenium,
and green tea may help prevent prostate cancer.

Conclusion
I. Emphasizes to audience prostate cancer usually affects to men at the age 40
and above and advice them to prevent it from now.
II. Having a complete understanding about the symptoms, diagnosis, treatment
and preventive methods of prostate cancer is good in order to help others or
our own family members in the future.
