Bathroom Cleaner
The usual acid domestic cleaners may have the drawback of attacking or destroying sensitive surfaces, whilst alkaline or
neutral cleaners have an inadequate cleaning action on mineral deposits. Hence, the use of any such cleaners in the home
is always confined to certain materials or types of dirt.
Hordaphos® CC additives can be used to formulate universal cleaners for the bathroom and kitchen. These cleaners are
notable for having a powerful cleaning action without damaging surfaces or installations such as fittings, showers,
bathtubs, plastic surfaces, acid-resistant enamel, sinks and toilets.
Formulation Preparation
1.0 % Hordaphos CC MS Perfume and isopropanol are mixed with the given amount
3.0 % Citric acid monohydrate of water, the detergents are added while stirring and
3.0 % Hostapur®* SAS 60 (Clariant, Functional Chemicals Div.) completed with the corresponding amount of citric acid
0.5 % Genapol® X 080 (Clariant, Functional Chemicals Div.) monohydrate and Hordaphos CC MS.
3.0 % Isopropanol
0.2 % Perfume
89.3 % Water
Application
Apply the product in concentrated form with an aerosol to
the surfaces to be cleaned, leave on for some time, then
wipe off with a damp cloth. Do not use on marble or lime-
stone.

Decalcification Cleaner
Sulfamic acid is the mainly used acid for decalcification.
The use of Hordaphos® MDGB as a corrosion inhibitor in the following recipe allows the cleaner to be used for the
cleaning of aluminium, stainless steel or acid-proof enamel surfaces.
1.50 % Hordaphos MDGB The formulation components are mixed at room temperature
0.01 % Vitasyn® Blue AE 90 in the given amount of water. The formulation can be
10.50 % Sulfamic acid colored optionally with 0.0025 - 0.01 % of Vitasyn Blue AE 90
88.00 % Water which is green in the acidic medium.
If higher concentrations are used (max. 14.5 %), precipita-

tion of sulfamic acid may take place at lower temperatures.
Application
The formulation can be used both for cold and warm
applications. The recommended application is a 10 %
concentration in water.

Glass Ceramic Cleaner
Ceran®+ hob cleaners are intended to remove grease and burnt-on deposits, but in so doing they must not damage the
sensitive ceramic surface.
Hordaphos® MDE effects very fine and uniform distribution of the abrasive (silica flour), which not only gives the formula-
tion its long-term stability but also produces a better cleaning action while at the same time preserving the surface from
damage. High grease-dissolving power and a brilliant gloss are also achieved in combination with the surfactants selected.
4.5 % Hordaphos MDE The citric acid, Genapol UD 030, Hostapur SAS 60 and

Application
A small amount of the undiluted formulation (shake well
before use) is sprayed onto the cold Ceran hob surface and
rubbed with a soft damp cloth. The surface is then wiped
while still wet and polished with a clean cloth. The
Ceranfeld Cleaner can also be used to clean extractor
hoods, saucepans, sinks and fittings. As with every abrasive
cleaner, however, it should be borne in mind that stainless
steel or chrome surfaces can be scratched if the product is
not used correctly.

Glass Cleaner
When car windows and panes are cleaned, soot, dust, pollen and fat have to be removed completely, but other materials as
sealings or varnish paint must not be damaged.
To get a satisfying cleaning result nevertheless, formulations based on isopropanol and Hordaphos® CC MIS can be
recommended.
2.00 % Hordaphos CC MIS First the surfactant is solved in the given amount of water,
0.01 % Sanolin® Blue NBL then Hordaphos CC MIS and isopropanol are added while
0.30 % Genapol® OX 100 (Clariant, Functional Chemicals Div.) stirring. The formulation can be colored optionally with
10.00 % Isopropanol 0.0025 - 0.01 % of the blue dye Sanolin Blue NBL.
87.70 % Water
Application
The formulation is used especially for the cleaning of
window-panes, mirrors and car windows. A concentration
of application of 1:50 to 1:100 is recommended.

Grill and Baking Tray Cleaner
With Hordaphos® MDGB effective cleaners can be produced which remove effortlessly impurities and deposits of fat and
any kind of encrustation.
2% Hordaphos MDGB The components are mixed in reverse order. For strongly

Application
The formulation can be used at an application temperature
of 40 - 60 °C both in concentrated and in diluted form up
to 1:3 depending on the degree of soiling and the material
dip and spray application (attention with non ferrous
metals and aluminium). The time of application should be
determined in an experiment before, especially for the dip
cleaning to prevent corrosion damage. Rinse with water
after cleaning.

Metal Cleaner
Commercially available acid metal cleaners often contain mineral acids and/or organic acids, e.g. acetic and citric acid,
as well as crosslinking, burnishing and/or polishing agents. These cleaners may suffer the drawback of causing varying
degrees of corrosion on sensitive metal surfaces (stainless steel, chrome, copper, brass, nickel, tin, aluminium, etc.) with
resultant pitting, discoloration, verdigris or abraded patches.
Formulations with Hordaphos® CC additives do more than merely avoid these corrosion phenomena. Because of their good
wetting properties they also have an optimum cleaning action on protein-based dirt. Additionally, they can shift deposits of
lime soap and sparingly soluble calcium salts, besides also producing high-gloss finishes on such surfaces as chrome,
copper, brass and stainless steel.
2.0 % Hordaphos CC MIS The citric acid is solved in the given amount of water, the
1.0 % Citric acid monohydrate detergents, perfume and dyes are added and completed

Multi Purpose Cleaner
especially for use in bathroom and kitchen
Acidic multi purpose cleaners are often based on citric acid. Because of its weak effect of solving chalk often only a poor
cleaning result can be achieved.
Hordaphos® CC additives can be used to formulate effective acidic cleaners, which prevent the precipitating of yellowish-
white deposits.
10 % Hordaphos CC MIN The citric acid is solved in the given amount of water, the
5% Citric acid monohydrate detergent added while stirring and completed with the
3% Genapol® UD 080 (Clariant, Functional Chemicals Div.) corresponding amount of Hordaphos CC MIN. At the end
4% Potassium hydroxide 100 % (adjust to pH 2.0) the product is adjusted to a pH-value of 2.0 with potassium

Application
Aqueous dilutions of 1:100 to 1:200 are recommended.

Plastics Cleaner
The good wetting properties of Hordaphos® 136 make it possible to use this plastics cleaner for both manual and
mechanical cleaning. The choice of raw materials ensures that none of the diverse surface materials is attacked.
10.0 % Hordaphos 136 The components are mixed together in reverse order at

damage is manifested in the form of sand loss or efflorescence at joint surfaces. This may lead, in extreme cases, to the
loosening of tiles.

Scrubbing Milk

WC Cleaner
WC cleaners are often based on citric acid. Because of its weak effect of dissolving scale and film, only an unsatisfactory
cleaning result can be achieved.
Hordaphos® CC additives can be used to formulate effective acid cleaners, which do not damage surfaces and installations
such as acid resistant enamel, sinks and toilets.
10 % Hordaphos CC MN Dissolve sulphuric acid in water carefully with mixing, then
5% Sulfamic acid add sulfamic acid, Hordaphos CC MN and Genapol OX 100.
