Comma After Every 3 Digits (1000 Separator)

How can I set up Excel to show a comma every three digits like it used to be in 2003? Right now it only shows the first comma after three digits. e.g. if my amount is 1234567890 then it should show as 1,234,567,890.

Set the number format of the cells to #,##0.00 - which will also give you two decimals after the point. Andrew

Santosh, Perhaps a more interesting question is "How did you get Excel to show only a single comma?" I have used every version of Excel ever released for Windows, and every version has a set of standard number styles. The Number style provides a comma every three digits (or not, depending on whether you put a check in the Use 1000 Separator check box); the Currency style provides a currency symbol, and a comma every three digits. You can, of course, use a custom style to add commas. Andrija has already illustrated the format to get a comma every three digits (if you select the Number style with commas, apply it to a range, and then select the Custom number style, you will see that this is exactly what the Number style uses), but you can vary the style to refine it to your needs. For example, if you prefer to use commas to designate lakhs rather than millions, you can use the number format: #,##,#00.0

and apart from area setting there was one other possiblity that this could be text ( for example imported as a text field)
