The Collective Shadow of the Dutch Kingdom

Sinterklaas & Black Peter; Celebrated annually from november till December 5th Singing this sentence, the anthem of the Dutch Sinterklaas celebration, for 126 years and not seeing what is hidden in plain sight:
"Ook al is hij zo zwart als roet, hij meent het toch goed." [Translation: Even though he is black as pitch, his intentions are not bad]

! Watch: Prem over Zwarte Piet bij DWDD It says a lot about the level of self awareness in our Dutch kingdom. Obviously we are here gleaning into the deep unconscious structure on both sides of Apartheid, racism and slavery. What drives the structural and ritual putting down of another race like this is obviously a covered up & repressed deep seated inferiority complex. You would not have to put down another [race] like this if you felt even moderately good about yourself. In terms of an individual this would hint of a deeply wounded self concept, on the side of the one doing the downgrading. A very wounded and hurt inferior self feeling, rooted in past and historical trauma, which had to at all costs be covered up like this, which such tasteless arrogance and superiority. This is why proponents and defenders of the celebration at all costs don't want to let go of it, because what is threatening to emerge from under the tip of this iceberg is a monumental inferiority complex, which obviously at all costs has to be kept down. It has to be kept out of awareness with such programing and feasts which downgrades and puts down the black race. The shadow erupting out of centuries of repression could be a tectonic activity of sorts which could devastate the self concept and (really false) self esteem. Yet what it says of people of color themselves who celebrate this putting down of themselves is the exact opposite. A self which remains deeply stuck in and playing out a deadly and iatrogenic form of inferiority at all costs... Self inicting terrible and generational damage on its own self image. Deep process therapy to touch the shadow and healing of self is necessary in the Dutch kingdom on both sides. Attesting of very very little self awareness as a people/kingdom yet. Yet maybe and or seemingly this celebration and all of the uproar it is nally causing, is forcing us to look more deeply in the reection of this celebration at ourselves and issues as peoples in a region, which history has been heavily tainted and marked by colonialism and slavery. Seemingly the Dutch kingdom has not been decompressed from this traumatic past.

What you resist persists: The rst way to deal with the shadow when it starts to fully come out is to re-delete it. In this sense [see picture] 2nd and 3rd generation Dutch of coloured background are replied to in the context of critisizing the Caricature that is being made of the black race in the Zwarte Piet image to leave the country: to go back to where they came from. But what is really being done here is the shadow or the repressed memories are being re-deleted. This is the rst way we deal with something very painful to see about ourself that is emerging out of the repressed. C.G. Jung said what you resist, persists. And here the son conceiled face of Apartheid is returning. The more we resist the shadow the more it will show face. The translation of the picture says If youre against Black Pete [tradition], you better get lost to a country where Sinterklaas is not celebrated The rst and most difcult step to mental and soul healing is breaking the denial. Like an addict. Its very hard and can lead to a whole breakdown of the self concept: who we believed we are, cause the whole espoused self image will collapse.. like a house of cards. Because there's a whole iceberg under this splinter that would come up and there's a whole lot (if not everything) at stake in the promoted Dutch self concept here (see rap song 200 jaar Koninkrijk below, where this fake self concept is sold and upheld). Because the whole alledged tolerance, open free multicultural society open for same sex marriage, marihuana, etc... will be threatened and compromised if the shadow, which brutally contradicts and refutes the promoted self concept like a mask of sorts, comes out...

This is a close-up picture of the Dutch Royal Golden Coach We tend to deal with past trauma, either where we were the perpetuator or where we were the abused in terms of "getting OVER it". But the ony real way is in it and through it. It is in this sense that we can construe of this celebration as a form of getting over... putting it behind us, where a really dark past is concealed in plain sight.

So in the sense that if we try hard enough to celebrate and sanitise it by making it seem benign. It will show that we are "all" (both sides of the abuse) having fun with it and in on it. If you are in on it you can not critisize it nor really reect on it. But the tipping point comes where no matter what the shadow comes out, like seems to be the case now with Sinterklaas, and the Genie cannot be put back into the bottle.

Inauguration King Willem-Alexander on April 30th 2013

This is a dangerous point because the core of the espoused identity is here being overthrown... If the storm can be truly weathered the right way... A rebirth of sorts can take place toward a new self image where the shadow is incorporated and the fake self image dies, a more whole and honest self emerges, much more sensitive to others and the past. But be very careful because the inated ego will try to fake this too... Translation: In 1813 we [slaves] were freed. Since than we have gained a king. The kingdom enriched as such. Obviously this is double talk, because the kingdom has enriched itself by slavery and genocide in Indonesia, Surinam & Dutch Antilles. While the song tries to allude the word enrichment with being a Dutch multicultural society in this day and age.

Loathing & Blaming the Victim Finally two of the most harnessed arguments in favor of the celebration; Regarding the changing of the color of the Peter is often heard: It wasnt fun when Peter was painted different colors than black. This is because the premis of the celebration is gloating (leedvermaak). Making the other rediculous. There is a very nast game being played here. In the video above (Prem over Zwarte Piet) is reacted to the rediculous way the Black Peter is depicited, i.e., the thick red lips with the following Oh the thick red lips result from sliding through the narrow chimney and so they result all swollen and red. Resulting from this explanation the audience of the talkshow in the video can be seen laughing aloud. Sadism The majority becomes a mob and the same thing we see with teasing (pestering) at school where a whole school or group will tease one child that looks different, and the whole schoolyard will participate and no one will stand up to the perstering bully. This same beehive dynamic has taken place with this celebration. The structural puttng down of and teasing and even harming of the other who looks different is a great source of pleasure, because its a fake way to feel good about ones self. This is the way an inated ego always keeps in the fake high, by putting down others. We really nd a whole spectrum of the way fake inated ego/self puts down the other to feel good. Loathing is the rst step of sadism in which we pester others by putting them down. Which ranges way into aggressing and even traumatising by rape and enslaving and even killing. This is the extreme narcisistic psychology undering serial killers and thus collectively genocides, enslaving of people, etc. The archetype is really well known in spiritual tradition of the plaaggeest or in English the tormentor or terrorist who takes great delight and pleasure in others pain. It is malignant pleasure or dark humor. Plaaggeest (Poltergeist) is also in Dutch the kwelduivel: from where we get intimidation, torture, terror, tiranny, etc. This is the perennial spirit and archetype which inspires and hides behind great inations of the ego and narcissist. Deep Structural Programing The other often used argument is why bother, because its a childrens celebration and children dont see all of this alledged racism. This argument actually goes to the heart and soul of the thing, because it is exactly at this lterless stage where the childs and babys mind is fully impressionable and programmable that deep structural racism and programs are easiest and deepest inserted into the deepest unconscious of children. To the point of becoming unquestionable sine qua nons in the life of adults. Points of departure (uitgangspunten), or point of views which cannot be questioned, are challenged because children are not even aware. They have the status of automatic pilot and reexes in us. The deep structural programing become unquestionable axioms we never think of challenging. We know from trauma based mind control research that the earlier the trauma starts the deeper the engraving.

Black Peter & the Uncle Tom Revisiting Frantz Fanon Last but not least the black Peter in playing Sinterklaas knecht(which in German means slave and in Dutch Servant) is playing what we call in English the Uncle Tom. Uncle Tom means: a black man considered to be excessively obedient or servile. Another denition we nd on internet is: A black man who will do anything to stay in good standing with the white man including betray his own people. The deep programing here is that the black wo/man, mulato, even the lighter colored ones, are being branded here to be good uncle Toms in the sense of being good helpers and servents and slaves to the white man. In this sense Black peter is none else that what Frantz Fanon called Black Skin White Masks.
