Introduction Of Information
Technology
Information technology (IT) is a general term that describes any technology that helps to
produce, manipulate, store, communicate, and/or disseminate information.
Two parts of IT:-
Computer-is a programmable, multiuse machine that accepts data and processes, or
manipulates it into information we can use.
Communication technology-also called telecommunications technology, consists of
electromagnetic devices and systems for communicating over long distances.
Information technology being used in:-

• Education
-Distance learning, or e-learning, the name given to online education programs
• Health and medicine
-Telemedicine is medical care delivered via telecommunications
• Money
-Micropayment, electronic payment of as little as 25 cents in transactions for which it
is uneconomical to use a credit card
• Leisure
-Downloading, transferring data from a remote computer to one’s own computer
• Government & Electronic Democracy
-Email makes it easier to contact the government
• Jobs & Careers
-In the hotel business
-In law enforcement
-In entertainment

What is Computer?
A computer is an electronic device, operating under the control
of instruction stored in its own memory that can accept data.
Process the data according to specified rules, produce result,
and store the result for future use.
The Importance of Computers to Human being
Computers are primary means to human colony and it was a
global communication for over a billion of people. People use
computers to correspondent to their business, employees with
other employees, student with classmate, and family members
and it has been use to share pictures, drawing, journal, music,
and videos.
How do Computer work?
Computers converted data into information. Data is a collection
of unprocessed items that cannot be read by human, which
converted into information that was useful to human which
included text, numbers, images, audio, and video.
Networks and The Internet

Internet - is a worldwide computer network that connects hundreds of

thousands of smaller networks.

World Wide Web - an interconnected system of internet computers (called

servers) that support specially formatted documents in multimedia form.

Cyberspace- encompasses not only the online world and the internet in
particular but also the whole wired and wireless world of communications in
general.
