THE MEETING

INT. BEDROOM, FLAT, DAY A room with a large wooden desk, single bed pushed to the edge of the room, a small book shelf above the desk filled with books. The room is plain. A large man with dark brown hair and pale skin, dressed in jeans and a top both dark colors, JED. Jed pulls out a phone, he dials. We hear the DIAL TONE and it RING. INT. BEDROOM, FLAT, DAY A room with a large wooden desk, single bed in the middle of the room, the desk is covered in dirty plates and cups, newspapers are spread across the floor. We hear phone RING. A young, tall man with dark brown hair, wearing dark jeans and a top under a half-untucked shirt, PETER, SLAMS the bathroom door behind him as he searches for his phone. Hello?? PETER

Peter sits on the bed, throwing a handful of clothes of the bed before he does. JED (V/O) Peter, where are you?? PETER I am in my room in Jamestown. Why? JED (V/O) I need to see you its urgent. PETER I have a meeting with James today, so not today Jed. JED (V/O) Forget James, come meet me in the park at twelve hundred hours. PETER I cant just cancel on James Johnson himself, and twelve hundred hours, really brother? You are no longer a Sargent, you need to stop talking like that. JED (V/O) Just meet me. We hear DIAL TONE. Peter puts the phone on the bed next to him, he puts his head into his hands. Peter picks up his phone we hear it RING.....

2. EXT. PUBLIC PARK, DAY A busy public park with a yoga class and a football game. Jed walking along the path way of the park, towards a bench. Jed sits on the bench to then look at his watch, the watch shows its 12:00. Jed takes out his phone, he dials, we hear the RINGING and then a voice mail message. VOICE MAIL The person you are calling can not come to the phone right now, please leave a message after the beep. BEEP. JED (V/O) Where is he, what if he went to see Johnson, would he stay there, would he come with me? Jed sits on the park bench, he looks at his watch, it is 12:45, he goes to stand when he sees Peter. JED (CONTD) Where have you been? PETER I had to tell James that I needed to see you, he didnt understand why you couldnt just come to my room. JED (Firm) What else did you tell him. PETER Nothing, he only wanted to know why I had to cancel our meeting an hour before hand, he seemed insulted. Jed moves along the bench and waits for Peter to join him. JED Peter we need to talk about living in Jamestown. PETER Why? I like it there, James has provided us with a good lifestyle just like you said he would. JED I was wrong, we need to think about how the James Johnson lifestyle is affecting the world and us.

3. PETER Jed, you need to calm down we are fine. I no longer feel the need to drink, in-fact I have not had a drink in over two months now thats an achievement all thanks to James Johnson and Jamestown. JED I think we need to consider our family. PETER Family! My family is Jamestown, they have taken care of me ever since you introduced me to James Johnson. Peter stands. PETER (CONTD) How can you think that I could leave them? And what family, our parents have always preferred you and your little family, then me by myself and we both know it. Peter turns no longer facing Jed. Jed stands. JED Why would you think any of that? You know that Jessica and Bradley love you as much as they love me. Peter turns back to Jed. PETER But they are your own little family they are not mine, I do love Bradley but he is not my son. Our parents love him and Jessica even if you are no longer together, they treat her more like family than me. JED Peter they love us both equally and they need us now more than ever, mum called to tell me that they are unsure of James Johnson, there has been a lot of news stories that we have no idea about on our little commune. What if he is hiding something from us?

4. PETER How about instead of pretending to be Nancy Drew, you talk to James, he has always been very open with everyone. JED You need to stop being such a child and open yours eyes, he cant be everything he proclaims. Jed stands. JED (CONTD) He stands in church claiming to be a prophet of the Lord and that we should basically all blindly follow him in his new lifestyle and ignore warning signs of decay around us. PETER (angry) He does not ask us to follow him blindly, he just does not want us to question how he chooses to run the commune. Jed sits down, silently with Peter sits back down next to his brother. JED Im sorry Peter, I didnt mean to upset you I just want you to understand that I am concerned. PETER I may understand that, what I dont understand is your sudden doubt in James. You were positive when you met him that he would provide a good life style for us all. JED You have to understand I think he is hiding things from us. I dont know if you noticed but the security around the commune has got more elaborate recently, and I have not seen Jimmy since Friday and he wanted to leave the commune. Where would he be for five days? PETER Dont be so paranoid, he had family in France, for all we know he could have gone to visit them. He had not seen his parents in months. (MORE)

5. PETER (CONT'D) Jed you need to stop looking at every little thing as being some dramatic change. And Im sure the security has something to do with all those reporters recently trying to get James to have interviews. Jed stares straight in front of him towards the group of young boys playing football. JED What if he is would hurt me he would hurt I dont trust power hungry, dangerous? What if he for leaving? What if Bradley? Peter please him any more he seems he seems mad.

PETER James would never hurt you and how could he ever hurt Bradley, hes only a child. No Jed I think you are being paranoid and trying to make a big deal about the fact that you dont want to leave alone, I bet you didnt want to leave the military on your own, did you? But you wouldnt of tried to convince your fellow officers to leave with you, would you? JED This is not the same. I left the military by myself because I needed to, you need to leave this place with me and you know deep down there is something wrong with the way that James run the commune. PETER You decide this commune would be good for me, we came here together you cant expect me to leave with you. JED What if I told you he is going to move the commune to off the coast of Scotland, to Flotta. Jed stops and looks at his feet. PETER What do you mean move? Why would he move the commune we are doing so well in Swindon. Jed looks up at Peter.

6. JED I saw some documents last week in Jamess office, he had forms for the building of a large estate of houses in Flotta, he also had signatures from one of the sets of flats to join in Flotta. I asked him what the signatures were for he said to use the communes money to purchase the houses and to furnish them. PETER So he wants to move us to a larger commune in a nicer location. He is just thinking what is best for the people in the commune. JED He is taking us all from our families, Peter dont you see that the reporters are right he is turning our Christian commune into a Cult, and using our money to fund his next project. Peter stands. PETER I think I should leave this conversation has gone to far, I believe that James has our interests at heart. I want to stay you can leave if you like. We hear a phone RING. Peter and Jed both pull out their phones. JED Peter who is it? PETER Its James, I told him I would be busy, why would he ring? Jed now stands and steps towards Peter. JED Dont answer it. You cant let him know what we are discussing. Peter ignores Jed and CLICKS the answer button, he then holds the phone to his ear.

7. PETER Hello, yes this is peter, yes Im with my brother, how did you know, oh I understand. I will call you when I come back. Peter CLICKS the hang up button, Jed is staring at him. Peter puts his phone in his pocket and then sits on the bench. JED What did he say? Why do you need to call him? PETER He knew where we were, I didnt tell him, how did he know Jed? How? JED What did he want Peter? PETER He wanted to know when I was back to talk about why you want to leave and if I plan on joining. How could he know that Jed? JED I dont know for sure, but Im certain we are being watched. Jed sat down and took out his phone, he put the camera on and started taking photos of around the two brothers. PETER Jed this is not a time for photography, we need to work out how he found out about our meeting. JED I am taking photos of our surrounding to see what does not fit in, you know like people or objects. Jed stops taking photos and looks at his phone. We see him scanning through photos on his phone with Peter looking over his arm at he phone. JED (CONTD) We are being followed by several members of his close group we need to be careful, I think you should leave and get your things. I will get Jessica and Bradley. PETER I will call you I have to go to the commune and collect some things.

8. JED Im not sure that is the best idea, what if they find out your in the flats, Johnson will want to keep you there and then he will come after me. Anything you have there we can re-buy. PETER No, Jed I need to collect some items. I will meet you, Jessica and Bradley at mum and dads. Peter stands, Jed follows. They start to walk down the path. JED Im sorry I got us into this Peter. The two walk down the path we watch them walk away. INT. BEDROOM, DAY. Peter is in his room, he is packing clothes into a large bag. He looks out the window and notices some large men walking towards the flats, he pulls out his phone and dials, we hear a DIAL TONE and RING. EXT. HOUSE, DAY. Jed is standing outside a house, he is holding a small bag with a cartoon character on it and he also has a larger bag at his feet. We hear a phone RING, Jed pulls a phone out of his pocket he CLICKS answer. JED Peter are you ready I have Jessica and Bradley packing as we speak. PETER (V/O) I am not sure Im going to make it Jed. The security you were suspicious of are looking around the flats, I think they are looking for me. JED Dont worry about it right now, get your things ready, I will get Jessica to our parents and dad will take them from there. I will come get you, we will leave together I promise.

9. PETER (V/O) You need to stay with them Jed, I think they are endanger, you need to take care of your little family. JED Dont be stupid you will always be part of my family and I will always be coming for you I cant leave you in the hands of that mad man and his cronies. Peter I will be coming for you, stay in your room. PETER (V/O) Im sorry Jed but I cant risk you being hurt and leaving Bradley without a farther. Im sorry brother. We hear the DIAL TONE, Jed stares at his phone. Jed drops the bag, he gets into the car and speeds off. EXT. FLATS, JAMESTOWN, DAY. Jed abandons the car, he walks towards one set of flats, standing at the door he presses a buzzer, we hear a BUZZ, SILENCE. Jed pulls out his phone and dials, we hear a DIAL TONE and a RING, the phone then cuts off. Jed presses the buzzer again we hear the BUZZ. Jed places his head against the wall. INT. FLATS, JAMESTOWN, DAY. A women from the flats came out of the door, Jed turned and watched as the door began to close, he grabbed the door before it could, he opened the door and walked into the block of flats, he looked to both sides of the hall, then began to run up the stairs. We see Jed get to the top of a set of stairs. We see a door, the lock has been broken and is damaged as well as the door, the door has a whole in the bottom. Jed pushes the door slowly, it CREEKS open, he steps inside the flat to see six other doors only one open. He walks to the open door, it also is damaged at the bottom as well as having the lock half hanging off the door frame. We see Peters room, the papers on the floor pushes to one side, plates and glasses broken on the floor, some with blood on. The duvet is in ball on the floor. Jed looks around the room, he sees a lighter on the floor near some newspapers. The lighter is a personalized with the words James Johnson.

10. Jed holds the lighter in his hand, we see the lighter and then the newspapers, Jed grabs a newspaper and after a couple of tries of the lighter, sets the paper on fire, he throws it in the pile of papers on the floor. Jed walks out of the room, we watch as the papers catch alight. The ALARM goes off. EXT. FLATS, JAMESTOWN, DAY The flats are being evacuated, Jed walks among with the other people to the car park. He stops, we see a man in a suit walk towards the building and back. James Johnson. Jed walks towards the back of the small group of people. James is talking quietly to a group of men, the we then watch walk towards the back of the building. Jed follows the men. He sees them open a van. We see that inside the van is a body under a dark sheet. Jed stands at a distance away from the van and the men, He watches as one of the men pull part of the sheet away from the body, we see Peters face, Jed steps back behind a wall. We watch as the men pull Peter out of the van over one of their shoulders and walk behind the flats. Jed waits until the two men left shut the van and walk towards the other flats, he is alone, he walks to the car, he sits in his car, he then drives off. We see the car drive away from the commune.
