y teach that as the second person of the Trinity, Jesus Christ existed before His incarnation. The word incarnation means to take on the humanity or human/. God becoming a man. Romans 8:3; Hebrews 2:14. The incarnation as we will teach later was in order to the atonement. John 1:1-3, 14. John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld his glory the glory as the only begotten Son of God full of grace and truth. See also Hebrews 1:1-3; Colossians 1:13-17; John 17:5, 24. B) The Deity of Jesus 1) Prophetically Hebrews 1:8-9 from Psalm 45:6-7. V8 But unto the son he saith, Thy throne, O God is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. V9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Psalm 110:1 The LORD (Heb. YHWH) said unto my Lord (Davids Lord-Adonai.) This Psalm is a messianic Psalm revealing Jesus the Messiah as both God and King. Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, a shall call his name Immanuel. (God with us) Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 2) Christs own claims John 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. John 8:56-58 V56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. V57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?

And they came and held him by the feet, and worshiped him. d) Luke 24:52 And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy: II) His Purpose A) As The Incarnate Son of God The distinct teaching of Scripture teaches the purpose of the incarnation was redemption. Redemption -the buy back. Romans 8: 1-4 V1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. V2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. V3 For what the law could not do, and that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: V4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in on us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. Galatians 4:4-5 V4 But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, V5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. Ephesians 1:7 In whom a we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace.

B) His substitution 2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 1 Corinthians 15:3 For I have delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures; 1 John 2:1-2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. Hebrews 9:26 Before then must be often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. C) His sinless life 1 Peter 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Hebrews 4:15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. See also 2 Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 7:26 III) Names A) Jesus - Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. The word means Yahweh is salvation, Savior or salvation, and links the Redeemer with humanity. B) Christ anointed, the Messianic name. John 1:41 He first find this his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messiah which is, being interpreted, the Christ. This links Christ with prophecy which He came to fulfill. C) Lord Master-Greek, Kurios, equivalent to Old Testament Yahweh. His deity, which He came to represent and reveal. Acts 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom you persecute: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. D) Alpha and Omega The beginning and the end. The first and the last. Jesus is

the first and last of the written scriptures, the beginning and the end of the material creation, the first and the last of the historic ages or time and worlds. Who was and is to come Yahwehs eternity. Jesus Christ is the subject matter of all Scripture; Creator of all worlds and everything that exists; the one in charge of all history, the eternal, and immutable Lord God -Yahweh Elohim. Strong The orthodox doctrine (promulgated at Chalcedon, 451) holds that in the person, Jesus Christ, there are two natures, a human nature and the divine nature, each in its completeness and integrity; and that these two natures are organically and indissolubly united, yet so that no third nature is formed thereby. In brief, to use the antiquated dictum, orthodox doctrine forbids either to divide the person or to confound the natures. IV) The Resurrection and Exultation of Christ A) The Resurrection Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 1 Corinthians 15:4, 20 V4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures: V20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. B) The Ascension Mark 16:9 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. Luke 24:51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. Acts 1:9-11 V9 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. V10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; V11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This

same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. Ephesians 4:8-10 V8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. v9 Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? v10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things. C) His exultation The exultation of Christ is marked by the following characteristics: 1) Restoration to the glory He had with the Father before he descended to earth. John 17:5 And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. See also Hebrews 1:8, 9; Revelation 5:9-10. 2) His position now at Gods right hand Acts 7:56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God. Romans 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us. Ephesians 1:20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places. Colossians 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 3) Jesus is the Giver of the Holy Spirit Luke 24:49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until you be endued with power from on high. John 15:26 But when the Comforter is common, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. John 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will

send him unto you. 4) He has Dominion over all creation. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 1 Corinthians 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. Ephesians 1:20-22 V20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, V21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:: V22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church. Philippians 2:9-11 V9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: V10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; V11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. 5) Jesus is that Head of the Church Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence. Also Ephesians 1:22, 23; 5:23-33. 6) Present ministry 1) Intercession Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. 7) His return Hebrews 1:1, 13; 10:13;1 Thessalonians 4:16-17.
